ARTWORK BY MORNING SUN YELLOW PONY
Morning Sun is from the Cherokee nation and has lived in Montana since 1978 and in Martinsdale since May of 1994. When Morning Sun was a young child her grandmother would take her and hand her over to the elder women in her tribe telling them to teach her the full of her culture. She learned to bead from these elder women and some of what she knows is actually
lost art by today’s standards, like her worry baskets and as the women who taught her have been gone for many years now. She speaks her language and is a fancy dancer, shawl dancer and traditional dancer. Morning Sun also had a love of photography and got her first camera with 50 cents and ten Joe Bazooka bubble gum wrappers. She’s been taking pictures ever since and has appeared in Montana Outdoors and Cowboys and Indians Magazines to name a couple. She has also received awards in photo competitions including Triangle Communications and the Ansel Adams competitions. Morning Sun spent years in the corporate world and the last twenty two years in the Music industry, where she recorded five CD’s and authored two books traveling as an evangelist and working with homeless and at risk children. Having always been very creative she is now spending her time in the arts that she loves. Those being her beadwork, photography and making hand carved Juniper picture frames. She will take custom orders and there is little she cannot create for your pleasure. ABOUT MORNING SUN’S CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS
Each piece is a one of a kind piece. They may be a certain style or even colors, but the designs within will be different. No two Worry Baskets will be the same design. Her Hand Carved Juniper Frames are always one of a kind because God didn’t make two trees the same. Each branch is different.
