Hamptons Modern: A bold roofline, simple material palette, and expansive decks create a home that feels distinctive, modern, and connected to its coastal setting. What began as an original A-frame kit house was completely gutted and reimagined through a full renovation and addition. The final result honors the character of the original structure while introducing a fresh architectural expression and spaces designed for modern coastal living. Just steps from the beach, a two-tiered deck extends the living space outdoors, creating inviting areas to entertain family and friends, gather after a day at the shore, and embrace the indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

One of the best parts of designing a custom home is the opportunity to consider every detail from the very beginning. My client asked for lots of different spaces where people can gather but also be alone. For this three-story home on LBI, that meant creating spaces that would fee bright, welcoming, and comfortable while embracing the way a family lives at the shore. A warm and inviting kitchen, layered bathroom finishes, generous porches and decks, and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces all come together to create a home made for both everyday living and gathering with family and friends.

Every element was chosen with intention, resulting in a home that feels cohesive, relaxed, and completely at home by the water.

From an outdated ranch to a completely reimagined home.

This project was a true transformation from front to back. We added a second floor over one half of the original ranch, completely gut renovated the existing home, and reworked the spaces to create a home that better suited the way the family lives today. Outside, the home received a refined new look, a welcoming entry, updated architectural details, and a refreshed rear elevation. Inside, every space was reconsidered—from the layout and flow to the kitchen, bathrooms and finishes—to create a cohesive feel throughout. One of my favorite parts of a renovation like this is finding the potential in what already exists and giving it an entirely new life.

Swipe all the way to the end to see the original ranch!

A modern renovation of a classic A-frame tucked into the natural landscape of Amagansett, with dramatic rooflines, expansive decking, and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the surroundings.
