It's Done. After 25 years Springrove Variety is officially closed. Even thou our last day of retail sales was Wednesday March 27th I had a few things to do yesterday and Today but I am now retired.
In 25 years all 3 of my children worked for me at 1 time or another. My oldest Nathan Wells helped open the store. My Daughter Stacey Witek worked for me for several years along with Many of her friends. My youngest Sam Wells learned that he didn't like working for dad so much so that was a brief stint. LOL.
My oldest granddaughter grew up in the store. She is 9 now and I used to babysit her often at the store. I used to change her diaper in the backroom. And we she got older we would make her "Work" and she would be paid in Popcorn and Chocolate covered Raisins. She is mad at me right now because we closed the store. But she loved being there. My other 4 grandchildren live in Illinois and don't get to come in as often. But when they did they also loved it. We would video chat and look at all the toys.
Virginia Norton worked for Springrove for 25 years. Her daughter granddaughter and grandson all also worked for me.
I just cannot name everyone who ever worked for me because I don't want to miss anyone. But special thanks to those that stayed until the end. Sara, Dale, Brandy, Kylyn. As long as Virginia Norton.
Through the years we had many great customers and I thank you all. We had some good years and some very tough ones, but we survived.
I liked to say, "We Try" and that's what we did we tried. Sometimes it was fun sometimes not so fun. But we tried.
I am very much looking forward to retirement but today has been harder than I thought it would be.
Thanks again Rod Wells
