We’re open. 🤎

Today, Crookston Candles officially returns, and the Hearth & Home Fall Collection is finally here.

To understand what this day means, I have to take you back to the day before we lost Dave.

I wanted to quit.

I told him I was afraid the candle business was taking too much away from our family.

Dave looked at me and said, “I literally see a light in you. I have never seen you light up the way you do when you’re making candles and talking about this business. This is what you’re meant to do. Whatever it takes, I will help you. You can’t quit.”

By the next morning, he was gone.

His death changed every part of us. We lost our safe place, our rock, and the center of our family.

Crookston Candles is more than a name on a label, it is the story of a family that has loved deeply, lost immeasurably and kept moving forward anyway. We’ve fought our way through grief and are still here, still loving, still living, still rebuilding and still carrying Dave’s love & light into every new season.

This new beginning for us has come with obstacles too. Yet, even the Promised Land in the Bible had giants. Difficulty does not always mean we are headed in the wrong direction. Sometimes faith means facing what stands before us and taking the next step anyway.

Hearth & Home was born from everything our family has loved, lost and carried forward. Every candle and gift is our way of placing a little light into someone else’s hands, so they feel seen, loved and less alone in whatever season they are walking through. That is our heart, and that is why we keep going. 🤎

Tomorrow, we open our online doors again. 🤎

After months of change, rebuilding, dreaming, designing, pouring and piecing everything together, the Hearth & Home by Crookston Candles Fall Collection is finally ready to meet you.

It is incredible how many hands and hearts it takes to bring a dream to life. This collection would not be here without the people who shared their time, talents, encouragement, ideas and support—and I am more grateful than I could ever put into words.

Hearth & Home is more than a fall candle collection. It carries the heart of everything we have walked through: letting go, beginning again and learning that home is not simply a place. It is the warmth, comfort and love we create for one another through every season.

Tomorrow begins a new chapter.

Website sneak peak 🤩🤩

August has been a month of transitions for so many of us.

New school year.
New routines.
And now, a new beginning for Crookston Candles.

Building this website wasn’t something I was sure I could do. Shopify came with a learning curve and when your brain is already full of moving, settling a house, and back-to-school details, learning one more hard thing takes everything you have.

But we did it. 🤍

The website is finally coming together, and I am so grateful for everyone who helped me get here and for every person who has supported this business through all of its seasons.

I cannot wait to share our new brand with you: gifts created to bring comfort through every season, from joyful beginnings to the days when someone simply needs to know they aren’t walking alone.

Launching September 1.

I never met Dolly Parton, but her life still touched mine. Through her Imagination Library, books made their way into our home and into the hands of my girls.

Yesterday, without knowing Dolly had passed, Addie brought me her copy of Coat of Many Colors. In the back is a note from Dolly encouraging children who have experienced bullying, letting them know she understood, healing is possible and they aren’t alone.

My children have experienced bullying, and it was such a gift to read them words that seemed to say, “I see you. It happened to me too. You can heal.”

That was Dolly’s legacy: reaching people she would never meet and making them feel seen.

She showed us that we can be strong without becoming hard, successful without forgetting where we came from, and completely ourselves while still making the world gentler for others.

Thank you for the music, the books and the beautiful example, Dolly. 🤍🩷🩷🩷

This time of year feels like a new beginning for so many people. 🤍

Teachers are welcoming and caring for a new classroom of children.

Mamas are adjusting to new schedules and quieter homes.

Children are finding their way through unfamiliar classrooms, routines and friendships.

And outside of the back-to-school season, people are beginning new jobs, moving into new homes, rebuilding after loss or simply trying to find their footing again.

These are the moments Hearth & Home is being created for, the moments when someone could use a little comfort, encouragement and a reminder that they are thought of.

Maybe someone came to mind as you read this. 🤍

This week, my girls started at a new school and in many ways, I’m starting over too. 🤍

Hearth & Home was inspired by this season of letting go, coming home, rebuilding, and learning that starting over doesn’t mean starting from nothing.

It means carrying the love, the lessons, and the purpose with you and building something new.

Hearth & Home by Crookston Candles is more than a new name. It’s what this business has always been at its heart: bringing light, sending hope, and helping people feel seen, loved, and a little less alone.
