"Will solar screens make my house dark?" 🤔 It's one of the most common questions we get!

The short answer: you choose how much shade you want. We carry Phifer Suntex 80, 90 and 95, which block about 80%, 90% and 95% of the heat. The higher the number, the more heat (and light) it blocks.

Want a room that stays bright? Suntex 80 lets in the most light of the three. The side of the house that takes the hardest sun? Suntex 90 or 95. Not sure which one fits your home? My son and I will go over the options with you at your free estimate.

How do zebra blinds actually work? 🦓

They're one loop of fabric with alternating sheer and solid stripes on the front and back. Line the stripes up and soft light comes through the sheer bands. Shift them so the solid bands cover the sheer ones and you get privacy and less glare. Swipe through the drawings to see it.

Fall tip 🍂: the sun sits lower in the sky this time of year and can reach deeper into your rooms, so a quick pull from sheer to privacy really helps with glare.

Ready-made screens come in standard sizes. You measure, you cut, you install, and hope it fits. With RRC, we measure every window (arches included), make each screen for that exact opening, and a typical install takes under 2 hours. More window myths we hear around the Valley, busted! 🙅‍♂️

Myth: all solar screens block the same heat. Phifer Suntex 80 blocks about 80% of the heat, Suntex 90 about 90%, and Suntex 95 about 95%. Myth: it's too late in the year. Screen now and you're ready before next summer. Myth: new homes always come with screens. Regular screens are often missing on new builds, and we replace them.

Myth: a screen company can't help with the inside. We install all types of blinds, including zebra blinds (everything except shutters). And no, you don't have to pay for an estimate. Estimates are free! 💬
