What does an old farm girl do during a snowstorm? Well, she races around the farm following chicken tracks so she can rescue them and place them in the barn. Apparently, chickens cross the road, but don't cross a snow drift.

I got these before Christmas at a box store. Usually, just making the purchase causes them to immediately begin their journey toward dying. I'm super happy they are actually thriving!!! I don't know what I'm doing right.

On my mind are everlasting flowers. A couple of summers ago, I began identifying everlastings that I could grow in my soil type and zone. To date, these are successful plantings: straw flowers, globe amaranth, spike amaranth, and I have found some very colorful Varieties of statice. As I continue to adapt the soil, I am hoping to add more and have more success with what already works, and will experiment with more varieties to add to this very versatile collection.

I put my huge strawberry patch into rows. I'm going to like not stepping on the berries next year:) I'm kind of shocked at the number of plants that are poking through the walkway. Resilient little guys!

🙋🏻‍♀️Not sure who else needs to hear this today…

Sustainable growth is slow and steady. 🐌

We live in a culture that likes to glorify “overnight success”, “explosive growth”, and “going viral”.

But that's not how sustainable growth works.

I remember hearing this truth a couple of years ago:
👉"Overnight success" takes 10 years.

At the time, I was just starting my business, and I found this truth to be equal parts discouraging… and reassuring.

When you see someone who has “achieved success”, whatever your definition of success is, (ooo, that’s a GREAT topic for another discussion!) it's vital to understand that they were:

Willing to put in the thousands of hours of work
Willing to be a beginner and be terrible at first
Willing to fail, over and over and over
Willing to use all their experiences, good and bad, to shape their future
Willing to stop caring about what other people think of them
Willing to adjust, change, and pivot
Willing to be curious and humble, instead of rigid and judgmental
Willing to do the brave work of facing their shame, fear, and “imposter syndrome”

🚫Do not compare Chapter One of your journey to someone else’s Chapter 12.
Comparison is never useful. It always tears you down.

When you feel frustrated that things are not going fast enough, successful enough, good enough…

Stop. Challenge that thought.
What if you’re exactly where you need to be?
What if everything you’re going through right now is sowing seeds for the future?

🌱Some seeds germinate faster than expected.
🌱Some seeds germinate at the predicted time.
🌱Some seeds take weeks, months, and even years to germinate.
🌱Some seeds require trauma (freezing ❄️, flooding 💦 or fire🔥) to germinate.
🌱Some seeds never germinate.

Your job is not to judge the seeds, but to simply keep tending to them.
Slowly. Gently. Steadily. Tenderly.

This is how sustainable growth happens.

"Aman, sista!"

"Aman, sista!"

I am a homebody.

There was a time when this truth filled me with shame. The world whispers that we must chase adventure to find meaning, that staying home somehow makes us small.

"What's wrong with me?" I wondered, perfectly content not leaving our farm for weeks.
Then it hit me: I DO live an adventure. Every single day.

Every morning is Christmas morning here. I wake up breathless with anticipation, eager to walk the farm and discover what happened while I slept. And there's always something.....the first brave asparagus spear breaking through spring soil ..the Baltimore Oriole pair that arrives in June and nests behind the barn..that first Dahlia bloom of the season, the promise of more to come

"Hello friend," I whisper, heart full. "Oh, how I've missed you. Welcome back."

These three acres aren't just land… they're my universe. In 15 years here, I've never known boredom, only breathless wonder. Every sunrise brings discovery. Every sunset, gratitude.

I have such deep love and tenderness for this place, this land that I know deeply, intimately. We're connected in a way that goes beyond words

My husband says when I leave, the farm holds its breath waiting for my return. And yes, that's exactly how it feels. When I come back, we both exhale together and speak in our wordless language: "It's so good to see you again."

Friend, you don't have to go far to go deep.
Sometimes, the most profound moments in life don’t require a passport.
They're grown slowly, tenderly, in the place you choose to love.
