Lately we do a bar in every home. It’s one of my favorite things to design because it’s a challenge of making things functional (read: vodka and w**e can really do a number on the wrong stone) & beautiful at the same time. But then again….that’s my hope for every room. 🪄
This is a dry bar built into a dining room, the bathroom/width of the overall space on the other side of the wall didn’t allow for us to build it into the wall. So furnishing strategically will ground the bar.
It connects directly to the the backyard, with the pool fireplace and more. The Client wanted it to be seamless indoor/outdoor living, so we used specific glass doors that almost disappear (not pictured) so everyone could wander during gatherings. And are loving it!

Details that level up a bar:
Being thoughtful about the edge profile of the counter top stone, cabinetry faces, and hardware for interest.
Details that level up a bar:
Styling the area with crystal decor like candle sticks, layering art, and a few plants, etc make it feel more interesting and somewhat more lived in….in sort of a “still life” painting kind of way.
Details that level up a bar:
Last but not least, mirroring the back (bonus if it’s antiqued) brings a major extra layer of light with how it so beautifully ricochets off all the other glass. Many bars are in dark moody spaces-and using some sort of reflective element is what keeps things from feeling dreary while also helping keep visual clarity on the bar elements.
