Lumens And Lamps

Lumens And Lamps I’m an engineer and lifelong craftsman who turned a passion for design into Lumens And Lamps.

What began as building custom fixtures for our home grew into a collection of premium, handcrafted lighting inspired by farmhouse, rustic, and industrial styles.

Introducing my newest handmade chandelier!

This one-of-a-kind fixture is crafted from three genuine whiskey barrel staves arranged in a striking, sculptural design. The Edison-style bulbs create a warm, inviting glow, making it a beautiful centerpiece for a dining room, kitchen, loft, bar, or great room.

Each one is individually made to order in my Texas workshop, so please contact me if you need a different hanging length to suit your space.

Just picked up this latest batch of retired whiskey barrels. I’ll be using all three sizes to create some brand-new lighting designs for Lumens And Lamps.

The ideas are already brewing, or should I say distilling 🥃 Watch this space.

Just picked up four more retired whiskey barrels, and now the fun begins.

Over the next few weeks these barrels will be transformed into handcrafted chandeliers, pendant lights, wall sconces, and lamps right here in my Texas workshop. Every barrel has its own character, which means every light ends up one of a kind.

Time to break them down and see what treasures are hiding inside the staves. Stay tuned—I’ll be sharing the process and some of the new designs as they come together.

What would you like me to make from a whiskey barrel?

Well… I suppose it’s about time I introduced myself!
I’m the guy behind Lumens And Lamps.
Despite what some might think, I’m not retired… I’m just lucky enough to spend my days building things instead of sitting in meetings.
Most mornings you’ll find me in the workshop with a coffee (or occasionally a whiskey at the end of the day), surrounded by reclaimed whiskey barrels, tools, sawdust, and whatever ideas decided to pop into my head overnight.
I believe handmade should actually mean handmade.I design and build every light myself, photograph it, answer your messages, pack the orders, and somehow still find time to dream up the next project.
To everyone who’s purchased one of my lights, shared a photo, left a review, or simply follows along… thank you. You’re the reason I get to spend my days designing and creating.
And if you’re new here… welcome! Watch this space to see what I create next.

Today was one of those days that reminds me how far a small workshop can reach.

I completed a couple of my handcrafted creations and sent them coast to coast- from Vermont all the way to Southern California. It’s amazing to think that my designs crafted right here in my Texas workshop are lighting homes across the country.

To everyone who has supported my small business, thank you. I appreciate every order, every share, and every kind word.

Something is taking shape in the workshop this weekend.

The whiskey barrel staves are finished, the parts are laid out- but what exactly am I building? 🤔

Take your best guess in the comments!

I’ll reveal the finished product soon. The first person to guess correctly earns bragging rights!

Handcrafted in Texas using reclaimed materials and a whole lot of creativity.

There’s something special about a piece that tells a story… and this one has a great one.

I recently had the pleasure of working closely with a customer on a truly unique custom build. After going back and forth on ideas, we landed on a design using authentic whiskey barrel staves paired with Blanton’s bourbon bottles they personally supplied.

But here’s the best part…

This wasn’t just a custom light—it was a surprise birthday gift for the husband.

While the couple was out for dinner, a friend installed the fixture so it would be the first thing he saw when they walked back in. Imagine coming home to that reveal.

That’s what I love about what I do—these pieces aren’t just lighting, they become part of someone’s story.

If you’ve got an idea for something personal, meaningful, or just a little different, I’m always up for collaborating.
