McKinney Knittery McKinney Knittery is a yarn shop in Historic Downtown McKinney, Texas. We carry mostly natural fibers, many hand-dyed yarns, unique accessories, and fabrics.

All are invited to attend our weekly Knit Togethers. Stop in and stay awhile! I'm a quilter. So, why a yarn shop? Over the years I have considered opening a quilt shop only to come to the conclusion it was the right time but the wrong place, or the wrong time and the right place. And then we moved to McKinney in 2013. I picked up knitting again, a hobby I found myself coming back to more frequently. I became frustrated with the lack of a local yarn shop. Sometimes you really NEED a size 6 16-inch circular needle right away! It wasn't long before I starting thinking about opening a yarn shop. I was very happy to be joining the outstanding team at Doozie's Corner, bringing yarn and knitting supplies to Downtown McKinney. Interestingly, it is my understanding the building which now houses Doozie's Corner used to have a yarn shop upstairs. So I guess I'm just continuing a tradition. McKinney Knittery is now in its fourth location in Historic Downtown McKinney, the beautifully restored 120-year-old Enquirer Building located at 117 W Louisiana Street. We are loving the additional space, classrooms, of course more yarn...and the addition of fabric and sewing supplies in our sister company, Downtown Dry Goods! I invite you to visit McKinney Knittery and Downtown Dry Goods. Bring a project and knit awhile with us. Maybe even be inspired to start a new project. Take a stroll around the Square. I guarantee you will leave with a smile. While you’re downtown, enjoy a meal at some of our award-winning restaurants. Enjoy your day and come back soon!

Get ready for three days of Bavarian-inspired fun in the heart of Historic Downtown McKinney! Oktoberfest returns to the Downtown Square September 25–27, bringing authentic German food, craft b**r, live music, games, and family-friendly activities to the community.

This year’s celebration features favorite Oktoberfest traditions including keg tapping, stein-holding contests, wiener dog races, and plenty of live entertainment. Families can also enjoy the Kinder Corner, while adults take advantage of the festival’s b**r and food offerings.

The festival is free to attend and runs Friday from 5pm–11pm, Saturday from 11am–11pm, and Sunday from noon–5pm With the historic downtown square as its backdrop, Oktoberfest is a great opportunity to enjoy the festivities while exploring McKinney’s local shops, restaurants, and vibrant downtown district.

Pro tip: There are now two free trolleys! Park stress-free off-site at First McKinney Baptist Church (1615 W. Louisiana St) and ride the free round-trip shuttle, which departs every 15 minutes directly to the festival. Or ride the second trolley from City Hall (401 E. Virginia St) to the festival!
