~~ALERT--> FEELING ALL THE FEELS POST...Today is the first Thursday in 13 years that I won’t flip on the lights in the shoppe I love so much and welcome in the customers that have given me everything. As I have been reflecting, I want to express my feelings to you…
For all these years, it has been my pleasure to have a home decor store in the town that I love. But it has been more than that. It has been a dream come true that I could not of done without my family and employees who have become family. It was a blessing to have worked with my Mom, Patti for 10 years before her passing. The extra time together at the shoppe I will cherish forever. There are no words that can express how thankful I am to have my ride or die daughter Haley, who has been with me from the very beginning and of course my favorite side-kick, Patti who feels more like the sister I never had and always wanted! My husband, Chris, has been there through all of the construction jobs, honey do lists, and Haley’s “dad, I just need a little thing built,” requests and I couldn’t have done it without his support. My cousin Sherl Hill, has played a pivotal role in our business and has been my saving grace. Keeping me on track is a tough job but “the General” came through every time. Leslie Zook and Katie Russ were the all-stars who could step in anytime when we needed extra help or both Haley and I were out on the same day or just to pop in to provide the BEST comedic relief when I needed it most. Thank you ladies! And finally, my brother Todd who has been such a great help with anything (and EVERYTHING) that I ask him to do! I can truly say my team is the very best!
But now it comes to the part I will cherish the most… the relationships that I have formed with YOU, my RD customers. You are truly what has made all the hard work, late nights, unlimited spreadsheets, mounds of bubble wrap and everything else behind the scenes worth it. I have loved, every minute helping you with a flower arrangement or a wall that needed some loving care or just a chat about life with a sprinkle of retail therapy.
I will miss you all more than you will ever know! But there is a silver lining!
Haley and I have started a new business called “Sugar Home Décor and Events.” Why Sugar? If you knew my sweet mother, you knew she never cursed and would instead say, “oh Sugar”. Since she started Real Deals with us, it only makes sense to bring her with us into this new adventure. We are going to be staging homes so they are ready to hit the market in style. Also, we will still be available to come into your houses and make them feel and look like the home you are happy to walk into everyday. We will be expanding our services to decorate for those special events and magical holiday seasons as well. Let us focus on giving you a beautiful space so you can focus on making the beautiful memories. We will be officially launching next month, but in the meantime, like our social pages so when we are ready to launch you are the first to hear! Instagram and Facebook
In the meantime, we were hoping to have found a buyer that I could pass the torch on to and keep our Real Deals shoppe alive in McMinnville but haven’t done so yet. It is never too late though to find that perfect person and re-open. So, if you know of somebody that is interested please let us know.
