In the great room: Pacific Madrone Coffee table with beveled glass top. (60”x60”)

This design was inspired by the traditional Japanese kotatsu tables. I love these tables!

It’s also meant to have an analogous relationship with the kitchen island hanging fixture.

Pacific Madrone dining table close ups.

Pacific Madrone is such a beautiful tree, Its bark makes a medicinal tea to wash sores and treat colds and sore throats. Chewing its leaves treated cramps and stomachaches. The wood makes great surfaces to eat on and gather around.

Because of the scale of this island panel (13’ x7’) I started with hot glue and 1/8” ply to make a mock up to get proportions right. (12”x12” squares on center)

Then a scale prototype to get electrical fittings right.

Then fabricate and replicate.

The kitchen: western red cedar island ceiling panel and light fixture.

This next series of fixtures and furniture is for a custom residence, and an amazing couple that is going to bring great things to Yamhill County.
