The Mayberry Trading Post

The Mayberry Trading Post Old-fashioned country store on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. Built in 1892 in a small town called Mayberry.

04/06/2026

To our friends, neighbors, and all the folks who make stopping by the Mayberry Trading Post part of your Blue Ridge Parkway tradition:

We wanted to let you know that we will not be opening for the 2026 season. This wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s the right one for our family this year.

We are so grateful for every visit, every conversation, and every bit of support you’ve shown us over the years. Y’all have truly made this little spot something special!

We’re taking this time to focus on family and to recharge, and we’re hopeful for what the future holds.

Thank you for understanding and for being part of our story. We love this community more than we can say. ❤️

One of our customers stopped by the other week wondering if we could find a home for this beautiful antique trunk that I believe belonged to his grandparents.

It seems to be in great shape, so stop by if you’d like to make it yours!

“Sometimes you just need one light that’s going to help you get out of bed every morning or try to achieve the next thing in life… And that’s what pottery did for me.

I found it in 2019 when my therapist recommended that I find a creative outlet after my daughter left home. I’m a single parent and when you’re a mom, you don’t have any other identity. You’re just mom. So, what do you do when your kids grow up?

Through therapy, art, and pottery, I found a part of myself again. I became Cris… and the mom…… That’s where the name “Crisanthemum” came from. “Cris-and-the-mom.”
It also got me through a hip replacement and major back surgery because it was something that I was passionate about and could continue to move through.

Having a space for people in my age group to come find themselves again is the most important thing to me.
Pilot Mountain called to me... There is so much room for growth and creativity here.

That really excites me. We get to grow together.”

The Parkway is still open, and so are we!

Friday 10-5, Saturday 9-5, and Sunday 10:30-5

Autumn is one of the busiest seasons on the Blue Ridge Parkway, so what does the federal government shutdown mean for your national park?

Travelers can still drive to scenic overlooks, hike trails, camp out, and enjoy a picnic surrounded by autumn colors, but should plan trips carefully in consideration that some facilities will be closed. The motor road will remain open, with the exception of the stretches where continuing road updates and Hurricane Helene recovery projects are taking place. Learn more at https://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/roadclosures.htm

The Parkway is surrounded by welcoming communities that hold a wealth of rich experiences along the way. We encourage you to visit their restaurants, shops, recreational areas, and more, to support the local economies of these communities. By stopping and shopping, dining, staying, and playing, you can help the region thrive.

When visiting the Parkway, please do your part to keep the park clean. Be prepared to pack out any items you bring in, specifically trash. Follow all the Leave No Trace Principles. https://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/leave-no-trace.htm

Thank you in advance for taking care of your national park and recreating responsibly!

As we learn more details, we will keep you updated.

If you’re heading up the mountain to see us this weekend, be sure to stop in and see our friends at Primitive Coffee - Antique Market & Bakery! I cannot say enough good things about the maple spice.

(Ok, maybe I could if my mouth wasn’t too full of maple spice latte to say anything. You know my mama raised me better than that! 🤤☕️🍁)

We’re open Friday 10-5, Saturday 9-5, and Sunday 10:30-5!

Happy official first day of October everyone!!! Meadows of Dan starts to fill up soon, and we’re excited to meet you all and see familiar faces!

Lucky for us, this year the leaves are already vibrant! Consider coming a few times to soak up the mountain air with a coffee or tea in your hand.

It’s only 15 minutes from Stuart now & 20 minutes from Floyd & Hillsville. ❤️
