🌸 A Little Piece of Southern History

I recently came across this vintage paper fan, and the more I learned about it, the more I loved it!

Dating to around the late 1940s–early 1950s, this little fan was a promotional piece from Belk’s “Your Friendly Family Stores” and advertised stores in Albany, Dawson, Americus and Fitzgerald, Georgia.

The beautiful floral design is on the front, while the back carries the original Belk’s advertising. These little fans were everyday promotional items—but somehow, this one survived for roughly 75 years and made its way from Georgia all the way to North Carolina!

I don’t know its whole journey, but that’s part of what makes it special. A little piece of Southern history, still telling its story all these years later. ❤️

And no…this one is NOT becoming a craft project! 😂

Some things are just meant to be preserved.

Y’all, the garden is alive and thriving… with a few more weeds than anything else! 😂🌱

But with a little help from Kingston, we managed to bring in a good harvest and get quite a bit of that jungle cleaned up. I’d say that’s a win! 🥒🍅🌽

Now, on to the next adventure because fall planting is coming soon! 🍂🌱

This is what abundance looks like. 🍅🌶️🥔🍆🫑🫜🫛🧅

Every tomato, pepper, potato, green bean, onion, beet and eggplant on this table started as a tiny seed or seedling and a whole lot of hope. There were early mornings, hot afternoons, weeding, watering, waiting… and now the kitchen is overflowing with the rewards.

Some will become fresh meals, some will be canned for the pantry, frozen for pasta sauce and some will be shared with family and friends. This is one of my favorite kinds of “busy.”

My heart is full, my kitchen table is covered, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Life has been a little quieter here on social media, but that’s because life itself has been wonderfully full… and we’re loving every minute of it.

I’m out of town this week, heading home in a few days, and then it’ll be time to get ready for a little vacation.

A special thank you to James for holding down our little homestead while I’m away, and to William Jaron, who’ll be taking over late next week. Of course, Kingston will be around to supervise them both. 😂

Thank you for sticking around while I’ve been a little slow to post. I’ll be back soon with fresh ideas, new creations, and a few surprises as I start getting ready for the holiday season.

From late-night crafting to early-morning harvesting… 🌿✨

Last night was spent creating in the craft room. This morning started with baskets in hand, gathering tomatoes, beans, eggplant, peppers, and more. Different kind of creativity, same grateful heart.

Life has taught me that the sweetest days are often the simplest—making something beautiful, growing something nourishing, and taking time to enjoy both.
