It might be the "boot"?
So recently I had 2 repeat customers call me for service work.
Both had leaks around the roof and had a general idea of where they thought the leaks were coming from.
A roof (if shingled) will typically last 15-30 years depending on the quality of the shingles used. One thing that can go wrong in the time it takes for the shingle life to expire, is the boot can also do the same.
The "boot" is a rubber ring, which over time can dry out and crack causing leaks as water will follow the vent pipe down into the home.
There are typically 2-3 vent pipes in a living space. One will be a vent stack, so your plumbing system can breath and flow properly. They can also be for bathroom exhaust fans or Radon systems(but most of the time Radon will be on the outside wall of the home).
At Dragonfly we have a couple different ways to check for this problem. We can set up a ladder and walk the roof or (on less windy days) we can use a drone to visually inspect the roof.

So keep in mind the next time you see water spots on your ceilings , "it might be the boot". This can be an easy fix if caught early.
