✨ Look at that glow! ✨ Can we talk about lighting?! So many times, when we meet with homeowners, they describe their spaces as feeling dark and dated. Sometimes it’s the just light fixtures themselves that need an update. But, often we notice that many homes don’t have nearly enough light sources. While windows provide the most beautiful natural light, some rooms aren’t so lucky. Many folks in newer builds are relying on recessed light only, or a single fixture on the ceiling. Here, in this townhouse built in 1875, our homeowners had neither in their main living space. At Haven Made, we believe the best rooms have layered lighting— that means ambient light, task lighting, and accent lighting. This is what helps create that soft relaxing glow [and provides functionality]! Scroll through our recent living room refresh to see what we added:
✨ Next to the newly-installed bookshelves is an adorable wall sconce with a scalloped shade. It’s perfect for reading. No hardwiring required— this cutie is plugged in!
✨ A gorgeous round, teal table lamp adds a pop of color and provides soft filtered light for those who are lounging in the living room.
✨ A tall floor lamp adds vertical height where we needed it and casts a soft glow.
✨ The record player console provides a flat surface to sneak in another table lamp. This time, tall and neutral fit the bill.
✨ A second matching scalloped wall sconce balances its mate across the room and provides additional light for the reading corner.
✨ Lastly, an outdated wall sconce near the entry, got a real glow-up! This glass fixture throws the light beautifully and is a nod to the stunning chandelier we installed in the dining room. Go check out that beauty, if you haven’t already!
So, have you seen the light!? (See what I did there. 😉) Take a look around your space— if it’s feel feeling dark and dull, maybe it’s time to layer on the lighting! 💡✨
