It’s gathering time again! My aunt helped me to pick a TON of grape hyacinths growing in her yard and gardens. I laid them out in my studio to dry and then pulled just the blue buds off and collected this entire jam jar full! And that’s just what we got from the first round, I have more drying now!

In my last post I told you all how I was starting to feel under the weather. Well shortly after I ended up really sick and for over a week I was out of work, unable to stay up more than 1 hr at a time, and just miserable even with lots of meds. I didn’t have the energy to do anything, not any kind of crafting, not video games, not even watching a full episode of a tv show. I got prescribed an antibiotic yesterday because my flu turned into a sinus infection and I feel amazing improvement in just 24 hours! I even plied the yarn on one of my
Bobbins and started spinning some new fiber I got at The Tina Turner Knits Fiberarts Festival!

I’m in the studio today, washing this beautiful Wensleydale fleece from Windsong Farm. I have a strainer for the wool inside an insulated wash tub. After it sits I pick the strainer up out of the tub and pull the plug at the bottom to drain out the water. To dry, I put some screening (plastic like would go in your windows) that I bought from Ace Hardware but you could get at your local hardware store. The screen is sewn onto a collapsible laundry rack with yarn which can be removed when I’m done.

Im so excited to announce I will be having an open house for my new studio in Medina, NY! I just moved in June and have been slowly working on a setup I am happy with. Those who have been to my classes have had a sneak peak but I will be working hard to get it ready for display on November 8th from noon to 4PM. Come ask me questions about my process, how I got started, and what my plans are for the upcoming year! Im also looking for input on what kinds of programs the community would like to see me offer and what day's and times would be best to offer them.

I’ve been busy eco printing on silk scarves using mostly botanicals I harvested from the yard and garden. I also added a few non-native botanicals I got that were being given away be others in my spinning guild. From the yard I have wild grape, sumac, maple, honey locust, and black locust. From the garden I have grape hyacinth, rose, lavender, marigold, and zinnia. From the store I have onion skins, and from the guild I have cutch, alkanet, and padauk.

I got my grant again this year for classes! All materials are covered by the grant so there is no materials fee and all the materials are yours to keep after the class. Upcoming I have parts 1 and 2 of spinning on the drop spindle ($25), dying solid and semisolid yarns ($65), and beginner knitting classes ($35)!
