“The Unimold Sofa” by O.B. Solie for Wieland Furniture Company from the 50s/60s.

Wieland Furniture Co.: Renowned for pioneering advanced bent and curved plywood techniques during the mid-century era, Wieland also famously supplied curved plywood components to Herman Miller.

When this one came into the shop, it seemed so simple to reupholster but once we got into it, that was a different story. As O.B. Solie stated “This clever method cut out 60 to 75 percent of the traditional wooden parts used in standard sofas.” Well those 60-75% of internals makes our job easier lol.

We reupholstered this beautiful church in downtown Wooster using Greenhouse Fabrics.

Vertical stripes on handmade curved benches from the late 1800s was a challenge for sure, but the end result is stunning!
