October’s Plant Club pick is the Boobie Cactus! 🌵🎀 A little BOO for Halloween, and well… the rest speaks for itself. 👻😂

She’s making a statement this month, but choosing her meant more to us than a good October pun.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And we know that for some of you, those words bring a face to mind. Someone you love. Someone you wish you could hug again. Or maybe it’s your own story, and everything you’ve had to carry.

Frida’s has always been about more than plants. You might come in looking for something green, but over time, we get to know the person holding the pot. We share laughs, hear about your families, celebrate good news, and sometimes find out that you came in because you just needed to get out of the house for a little while.

Those moments mean something to us. You mean something to us.

Our hope is that Frida’s is a place where you feel welcome on the hard days, too. Where you don’t have to be in a good mood or have good news. You can talk, wander quietly, or let us distract you with a plant you absolutely do not have room for. We’ve got plenty of those. 💗

So this month’s pick comes with love for those facing breast cancer, those finding their way through life after it, and those missing someone they should have had more time with.

We won’t pretend a cactus can hold all of that meaning for everyone. But when you look at yours, we hope you remember the people at this little plant shop who are happy you walked through the door.

🦇 IS IT REAL OR AI?! 👀

It looks fake. It looks photoshopped. It looks like Halloween made its own plant… but the Black Bat Plant is REAL! 🖤

We’re kicking off October with a fresh restock and a spotlight on this wonderfully weird beauty: Tacca chantrieri 🦇

🦇 It grows its own whiskers. Those dangling threads can reach 8–10 inches long!

🎃 Its timing is naturally spooky. Here in Florida, bat plants typically bloom from late summer through fall, right in time for Halloween.

🌸 It can put on repeat performances. A happy, established plant may bloom up to eight times in a season.

🤍 It has a ghostly relative. The white bat flower, Tacca integrifolia, has white “wings.” It’s a different species!

✂️ It prefers to stay attached. These blooms decline quickly when cut, so they’re best enjoyed on the plant instead of in a vase.

🌿 It has orchid taste. Although it isn’t an orchid, it enjoys similar conditions: humidity, good airflow, and protection from direct sun.

🍀💚 Plant Club, a little luck for the season ahead! 💚🍀

This September, we’re wishing our Plant Club family good things, fresh growth, and a little extra luck. And what better plant to bring that wish home than the Lucky Bean Plant? 🌱✨

Meet Castanospermum australe, this month’s Plant Club pick! With glossy green leaves and chunky bean-like seeds at its base, this little plant has so much personality. And yes, those are the actual seeds it sprouts from! 😍

Think of it as your little green good-luck charm as we head into a new season. 💚

🌏 Origin: Native to the rainforests of northeastern Australia, where it can grow into a towering tree! It’s also known as the Moreton Bay Chestnut or Black Bean Tree.

🌞 Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh afternoon sun.
💦 Water: Let the top third of the soil dry before watering thoroughly. Allow excess water to drain, and don’t let it sit soggy.
💨 Humidity: Average household humidity works well. Keep away from direct AC or heating vents.
🐶🐱 Pet Friendly: Not pet-safe. Keep away from curious pets and little ones, especially the seeds.

We seriously cannot believe we were able to get our hands on Anthurium ‘Queen of Hearts’ for Plant Club! 😍

This is not your everyday houseplant. Queen of Hearts is an absolutely stunning, highly sought-after Anthurium known for its dramatic, velvety, heart-shaped leaves and gorgeous deep coloration. It’s the kind of plant that makes collectors stop and stare. 🖤

And somehow… WE GOT IT FOR PLANT CLUB! 🤯

If you’ve ever wanted to add something truly special and uncommon to your collection, this is your month. We are SO excited to be able to offer a plant this cool to our members!
