KatyCo. Design

KatyCo. Design Hi, I'm Katy. I design quiet luxury interiors for life’s transitions. Beauty that fits your life NOW—not before. We are a Boise-based, woman-owned business.

I design spaces that hold your story through life's turning points. Think: quiet luxury. Lived in.

I’ve always said, your hardware is your home’s jewelry.

It’s the final, intentional detail that takes a space from functional to finished.

In interior design, it’s often the smallest elements, cabinet hardware, door hardware, and plumbing fixtures, that define the overall look and feel of a space.

Just like accessories complete an outfit, thoughtfully selected finishes help bring personality and cohesion to a home.

And quality matters. The right materials don’t just look good, they last. Adding a level of durability and timelessness that elevates the entire design.

Invest in your hardware the same way you would your jewelry.

This might be one of the coolest projects I’ve worked on.
Not just because of the design, but because of the client.

This space does everything. Office, sports court, robotics shop, guest apartment, all built right across from his son’s high school so it can handle football events, workouts, and a lot of teenage boys.

We pushed for a darker, more industrial palette (a shift for him), and it completely made the space. Add in the LED lighting he can change for game days, and it’s next level.

But what I love most is how simple it is. Durable materials, clean spaces, nothing unnecessary.

A good reminder that design isn’t about adding more, it’s about the details.

I love what I do so much that I'd ALMOST do it for free!

The way I see it, I'm not competing with anyone else. Just constantly trying to be better than I was the previous year.

I'll never stop learning and improving, and that's the standard I'll always hold myself to.

These clients wanted three different kitchens that would serve three different purposes.

The main kitchen is refined — vaulted ceilings, brass accents, Wolf range, blue island.
The butler's pantry is utilitarian with character — restaurant-grade sink, cement tile, with an extra dishwasher and stacked ovens.
The pool house kitchen is casual and personal for entertaining— straightforward appliances, light cabinetry, playful geometric backsplash.

Designed to be a staycation for a growing family, with the flexibility to host longterm guests.

Some projects just get to be fun. This was one of them.

Multiple levels, a reading nook, a rainbow-lit tunnel into a ball pit, a climbing wall, and built in storage options that keep cleanup easy. Every plane backlit for glow. Brought to life with a carpenter, painter, electrician, and upholsterer who all delivered.

One of my proudest projects — and one that made me want to create a similar play space for my own family. Sometimes it's my clients who actually inspire me.

Acoustic control is what separates an impressive building from a functional one, and for Powerhouse Realty Group, carpet tile was our main acoustic solution. Unlike rugs, it installs in sections across large commercial footprints, handles heavy traffic, and replaces damaged areas without pulling the entire floor. It's practical, durable, and effective at scale.

Smart design solves problems you don't always see.

Passion without ex*****on is just a mood board.

A dream that cannot come to life remains a dream — and that's the part that actually interests me. The building of it. The solving of it.

A room that doesn't function creates friction every single day. Getting that right for someone — that's the work.

And for me, it never gets old.

"Can I place my TV over the fireplace?"

If you insist... But here are my rules.

1. Try not to mount it too high. If you can keep the bottom of the TV at 5’ from the floor, it won’t look like it’s in outer space. 👩‍🚀🚀 If you have extremely high ceilings and you’re watching from 40’ away, then shoot for the moon!

2. Your fireplace type has specific distance requirements for combustion, so be sure to check what these are. This goes for TVs, mantles, and art. Even your favorite show isn't worth a potential house fire!

3. A fireplace is a more classic and appreciated feature than a TV, so consider televisions like Samsung's The Frame that closely resemble art and install completely flat.

Want a bedroom that feels like a true retreat?

Start with bedding. Not paint. Not furniture. Get the weight, the texture, the layering right and the room reads differently before you change another thing.

Then quality window coverings with blackout curtains. Light control is sleep control. A beautiful room that wakes you up too early isn't a retreat.

Then lamps. Overhead lighting is a retreat killer. Lamps create the low, warm light that tells your nervous system the day is done.
