Yesterday I got to go back to Cabrini — Class of ’05! — but this time, I was standing on the other side, talking to the girls about leadership, creativity, taking chances, and something I’m STILL learning myself:
Trust the mess.
You don’t have to have the whole plan figured out. You don’t have to know exactly where you’re going. Sometimes the messy middle — the mistakes, the pivots, the what am I even doing moments 😂 — is exactly where you’re becoming who you’re supposed to be.
504 Funk definitely didn’t start with some perfect business plan. It started with two artists making stuff we loved, figuring it out as we went, and trusting that eventually all those weird little pieces would make sense.
Getting to bring that message back to a place that was part of my beginning was pretty special. 💚
Thank you, Cabrini, for having me back — and to all the girls who listened, created, laughed, and trusted the mess with me.
Keep going. You don’t have to see the finished picture yet. 🎨
