Clothing holds a person’s energy.

A closet reveals far more than what someone likes to wear. The colors, textures, silhouettes, and pieces they return to all carry a signature energy code which relays the story of who they are.

When I begin working with a client, I pay attention to these details: the things they reach for, the pieces they treasure, and the patterns that repeat. Often, a closet becomes an unexpected access point to understanding who my client is and how they want to feel in their home.

My design process begins with listening, but also with noticing—reading the subtle cues, the energy of the space, and the story that is already there. My role is to bring that story forward and translate it into a home that feels unmistakably yours.

Before the first piece of furniture, before the artwork, before the styling…A room is shaped by light. And window treatments are how you choose to experience that light.

They’re not simply about privacy or blocking the sun. They influence the mood of a space from the moment you wake up until the last bit of daylight disappears.

☀️ In the morning, sheer fabrics soften harsh sunlight into something calm and inviting.

🌙 In the evening, layered drapery creates a sense of refuge, helping a room feel grounded and protected.

Scale is also important. Hanging drapery higher and wider than the window isn’t just a designer trick—it changes how your eye experiences the architecture, making the room feel taller, more expansive, and more balanced.

And then there’s texture.
Natural fabrics like linen and cotton interact with light in a way synthetic materials simply can’t. They filter, diffuse, and soften the room instead of fighting against it. It’s one of those details people often can’t explain—but they immediately feel the difference.

The best window treatments don’t call attention to themselves.They quietly shape the way a room feels.

This Vermont Mountain House living area came with a long, narrow layout that made furniture placement feel tricky and the space a bit disconnected.

Instead of treating it as one large room, I reimagined the layout into three intentional zones: a grounded main living area for conversation, a cozy TV nook for relaxing, and a flexible space for work or gaming. Careful planning of scale, spacing, and circulation helped each zone feel defined while still flowing naturally together.

The result is a space that finally works with the architecture instead of against it - functional, balanced, and comfortable for everyday living.

Do you actually need a formal dining room?

Here's something I ask a lot of my clients — when was the last time you actually used your dining room? Not for holiday dinner, not as a drop zone for mail and stuff that has no home — but actually used it the way it was intended?

For so many of us, the formal dining room is one of those spaces we feel like we're supposed to have. It's tradition. It's what you do. But especially here in Florida, where we have outdoor dining, kitchen dining, and beautiful weather almost year round — how many dining areas do you really need?

This space was exactly that. Nice enough, but unfinished, unloved, and honestly just collecting junk. So we made a bold call — ditch the dining room and bring in a cozy sitting room instead. The result was a space the whole family actually wants to spend time in.

Sometimes the best design decision is letting go of what a room is "supposed" to be and designing for how you actually live.

One of the most important elements in design isn’t color, furniture, or even layout—it’s balance.

In this space, the sofa was the one peice of existing furniture the owner wanted to keep. It was the darkest and most visually dominant element in the room. Left on its own, it naturally drew all of the attention and created a sense of visual weight concentrated in one area.

To create balance, we intentionally repeated touches of black throughout the room—in the artwork, accessories, lighting details, and decorative accents. These smaller moments of contrast help guide the eye around the space, allowing the room to feel cohesive rather than anchored by a single heavy element.

The result – every piece is in conversation with another. When visual weight is thoughtfully distributed, a space feels calmer, more grounded, and easier for the nervous system to process.

Good design isn’t about making everything match—it’s about creating a sense of equilibrium that you can feel the moment you walk into a room.

For a long time, I thought great design was mostly about getting the visuals right, clean lines, balanced layouts, beautiful materials, and cohesive color stories. And while that foundation still matters, my perspective has evolved.

Now I look at a space less as something to be styled and more as something to be lived in, supported, and experienced every day. Does it calm the nervous system or add subtle tension? Does it invite you in, or make you feel like you need to adjust yourself to it?

This shift changed everything for me.

Design became less about performance and more about presence—creating homes that respond to the people inside them, not just trends or aesthetics.

When a space is truly aligned, you feel it immediately. There’s ease. There’s flow. There’s a sense of coming home to yourself.

That’s the work I care about most now.
