There are different ways clients choose to be involved in a project. Some prefer to leave everything to the designer, while others enjoy being part of the process and discovering what they truly love along the way.
This project was very much the second kind. We had an overall design direction, but as we explored materials, furniture and finishes together, some elements naturally evolved.
The most unexpected idea came while selecting the stone for the adjoining bathroom. We came across this beautiful, dramatic natural stone, and the client immediately imagined it in the bedroom behind the bed. I loved it too, so we thought - why not?
We decided to use two full slabs as a statement panel, balanced with natural wood rather than covering the entire wall in stone.
And then came the part we definitely underestimated: getting two full slabs to the 9th floor. We thought they would fit in the freight elevator. They didn’t. So the installation team carried them up the stairs from the 1st to the 9th floor 🤯. I still don’t know how they managed it 🫠
For me, the most rewarding part of this project was creating it together with the client - allowing the design to evolve as we discovered what they truly loved.
