“Miami Mic Drop” November Issue 2024
The Breakfast Nook: From early on in the project, we knew we wanted the breakfast nook to be a special little corner. Tucked between the kitchen and the living room, the nook called to be a space to energize and begin the day. Following the client’s request for color, we cladded the walls with Honey color soap tiles by designed by which pick up on the yellow-gold tones we used for the living room custom silk rug.

Having fallen in love with the sculptural and brutalist qualities of round LS09 table, we felt the table would be the best compliment to the honey-colored glazed tiles. With the help of , we tapped for a custom oval version of the table and reconfigured the position of the concrete bases. The table is composed of green tint glass with a brass surround profile.

Picking up on the table’s brass profile, we paired the table with two brass structured Gaja Chairs by Kazuhide Takahama for in a yellow-petrol striped fabric, which mimicked the vertical lines of the wall tiles. Continuing with the brass detailing as lighting fixtures, we added three Candela di Vals fixtures designed by the architect for to provide a sparkling ambiance lighting while not blocking the “Resting Nude” Picasso drawing hanging in front of the tiled wall. The entire space is then enveloped in a custom distressed leather banquette in a light neutral n**e color, a continuation of the nubuck suede used for the living room’s Terrazza sofas. It was essential for us to tie in all the spaces and objects in the project through color, materials, and textures.

“Miami Mic Drop” November Issue 2024
The Living Room: The client wanted visually interesting pieces as part of the design. We intentionally paired the Nubuck Leather Terrazza Sofas by Ubald Klug with the beautifully designed Slice Me Up Coffee table in walnut by for the living room to mimic the rise and dips of natural terrain. The intention behind the custom silk rug was to enhance the dialogue between the sofas’ dips and the coffee table’s rises with swirls of color mimicking two-dimensional topography maps, completing the overall unique landscape. With its playful sculptural qualities, the Blowing ArmChair 5 by in transparent resin blends in among the various colors of golden yellows, ochre, burnt reds, and oranges. Glass side tables from and custom lacquer dark forest green of complete the living room composition. The ceiling was finished in an off-white high gloss Venetian plaster to bounce off the natural light during the day and to reflect all the colors and objects during the night.

“Miami Mic Drop” November Issue 2024
The Dining Room: During a work trip in Italy several years ago, I got a glimpse of the Paysage Chandelier design by and in a magazine, and it was love at first site. At the moment, I said to myself one day, we will use that chandelier in a project. A few years later, as I toured Tom Joyner’s apartment and stepped into the dining room, immediately the Paysage Chandelier came to mind, and I knew it would be perfect. We initially wanted the chandelier to fill the space and overpower the room. Working closely with , we developed a custom size and composition of the chandelier and selected the cast glass sheets in Amber, Fume, and transparent. It is safe to say we designed the room around the chandelier.

We wanted the walls to be a texture-deep color that complimented the golden light cast by the chandelier. We decided to do matte Venetian plaster in a deep forest green, mimicking the movement of smoke or water. To complement the walls, we selected lime green resin A114 dining table, an exclusive design for . To offset the bold colors, we used the Brazilian midcentury, classic Marina Dinning chair by our personal icon Jorge Zalszupin in vanilla suede with a stained American walnut back. A golden yellow silk area rug grounds the entire composition to complete the space.

“Miami Mic Drop” November Issue 2024
The Club Room: To give an internal room a multipitpurpsoe use, we draped the walls in Cognac “Plushy” Velvet on motorized tracks. With the push of a button, the room converts from a party room to a media room, revealing a recessed flat-screen television and a laundry room entrance down a curved hallway. The custom curved velvet banquets in a red-orange were designed to follow the curvilinear architecture of the room and provide deep lounge seating. The banquets are complimented with custom ochre yellow cotton velvet ottomans. The room’s walls, and ceilings are finished in Antico Marmorino in Gold Dust Semi Metallic. Above the banquets, the walls are cladded in bronze mirror panels with walnut and champagne metal trims. The floors are a high pile of nusilk wall-to-wall carpet by to help with the room’s acoustics.

A highlight in the room is the disco ball-inspired tequila bar custom cabinet cladded by applied bronze mirror tiles; the cabinet’s interior is in a cherry red lacquer, the client’s favorite color. Above the cabinet, a beautiful bronze framed moon scone by . A custom solid brass ring and pole with gold leaf insert floats in the middle of the space, with an ottoman base in velvet red-orange velvet, and gold fringe details.
