HAPPY 2024!
A year ago today I embarked on a new crochet project I never thought I would ever dream of doing. But Iβm so glad I did! π
Each morning when I woke up I recorded the temperature (which was usually the low temp for the day) and then I would also record the high for the day. Then I would make (not always on the same day!) a hexagon that represented those temperatures. For example, 90 degrees=red, 80 degrees=orange, etc. Well, I am please to announce that I completed the blanket, all 365 hexagons, right on time!
I have learned quite a few things in making this massive blanket. First, procrastination is not a good quality to possess when taking on such a challenge! I did really good in keeping up with it for the first 6 months, but then I was away on the other side of the world for 2 weeks, and there were several times when I ran out of some yarn and dragged my feet in ordering more. Lesson learned when I found myself a month behind! π¬
Secondly, I learned itβs ok to not be perfect. I made 2 hexagons where the low temp is not in the center, the high temp is! π€·π»ββοΈ
I will not be making another temperature blanket in the near future, BUT I will be entering this one in some local fairs this year. Thatβs something Iβve never done before so we shall see how it goes.
Some facts about the blanketβ¦
π§ΆThe temperatures are based on my hometown in central PA, except for one week in Maine (February), 2 weeks in Asia (June), and 1 week in Wyoming/Montana (October).
π§ΆThe blanket measures approximately 90β by 102β.
π§ΆThe lowest temperature recorded was in the single digits (only once all year) while in Maine.
π§ΆThe highest temperature recorded was in the 90βs, 20 days.
π§ΆThe most recorded low temp was the 30βs, 91 days.
π§ΆThe most recorded high temp was the 50βs, 80 days.
π§ΆThe highest recorded low temperature was the 70βs, 15 days.
π§ΆThere were 23 days where the temperature remained the same, no color variation in the hexagon.
π§ΆAll yarn was from Hobby Lobby, I Love This Yarn by Yarn Bee.
π§ΆMuch thanks to Pretty Peacefulβs YouTube video for the simplest hexagon instructions!
