Looking for a job? Awesome employer
Hey friends:
I decided to post the shop's open position on Indeed.com to hopefully expand the candidate pool. The position should be live by this evening. I will also have hard copy applications available on the counter. I'll be accepting applications/resumes through the close of business this Sunday, September 22nd.
Here are the details/expectations of the position. I will not take phone calls about the position, only walk in or online applicants.
Minimum age: 18
Hours/days: Every Monday 7:00am-5:00pm
Every other weekend: Saturdays 7:00am-5:00pm and Sundays 8:00am-3:00pm, for a total of 8-9 days per month and around 85hrs total.
Pay: $11.00/hr + tips. Average daily pay is $15/$16/hr including tips.
Must have reliable transportation
Must have the ability to tell time and complete basic math
Must be comfortable working alone and making decisions independently
Must have the ability to multi-task, remember drink recipes and preparation steps, and basic working knowledge of kitchen equipment such as toasters, can openers, ovens, and coffee makers.
Must be dependable, with stable mental and physical health, and have an outgoing personality to interact with customers daily
I'm asked daily if I'm hiring, and told: "I love coffee and books. I'd love to work here!" Everyone thinks they want to work here, until they realize that it IS work, it's not just sitting and reading and drinking free coffee all day. I'd invite anyone thinking of applying (or recommending someone) to stop in during a morning rush and observe how stressful the job can be. Rylie and I love my shop and our customers, and I'm looking for someone who can love everything as much as we do.
I've spent the past several months training candidates that were unable to handle the job for even a shift or two independent of my assistance even after a month of hands-on training. I'm making this last attempt to find a mature candidate that can handle the responsibility of the job. If I'm unable to find that, I'll have to work the shifts myself and close the shop when I have doctors or other appointments that can't be missed, or I'll have to temporarily close the shop one consistent day a week until I catch up on all of my missed healthcare appointments. I'll of course keep y'all posted as things develop.
Thank you, thank you so much for your ongoing patience and support! Y'all are my lifeline! ❤️
