Music can help transport you to another place and time. Most everyone loves to listen to music, but what happens when you are building your dream home you want the music but you don’t want to see speakers everywhere. You want that clean look without a bunch of distractions. Well today we have the “invisible speaker” a speaker that sits just below the drywall surface and blends with its surroundings. It’s has a very wide angle of diffusion, so it can be placed in out of the way areas and still fill the room with sound. Below are some pictures of a past project where invisible speakers fill a large great room and kitchen area with sound and with a surprising amount of bass. It’s also fun to have your friends and guests try to find where the music is coming from.

Clients regularly ask me what’s the best size TV for a particular room or area. In rooms that you do the most TV watching and for me, the bigger the better that will fit on the wall, but it also depends on what the resolution of the content. The higher the resolution the closer you can sit, and still support the larger the screen sizes. Below is a general guide for content resolution, screen size vs seating distance. I stream most of my TV viewing and most of it is 4K or higher. At home I sit about 8-9 feet from an 85” Screen with no issues. In fact now that there are more and more 100” TVs have come to market, it’s now time for an upgrade. , , , ,

This custom home is all cleaned up and furnished. Pictures below are of the game room, great room, covered patio, Lutron Keypad and Josh Ai touch panel and the equipment rack. Next stage of the project. The drywall is installed, cabinets flooring and paint is dry on the walls. Now it’s time to prep for TVs to be installed and get the racks wired up to the house. , , ,

Thinking about a project we finished earlier this year. This home featured a large garage under the house for the collection of cars. Lots of wood beam details, plenty of space, and lots of tech and automation you rarely see amongst the homes finish’s and details. Below are pictures during framing. New Project, retrofitting an existing home theater. Changing out the traditional projector-screen combination with a LED video wall and a new speaker layout. Working with the home owner, general contractor and other subcontractors everyone needs to understand the vision of what we are building and their scope within the project. Acoustic Evolution does the design and draws those plans in house. Below are a few pages of the new front wall framing for the new LED wall and the speakers around it.
