Just the other day I was bragging that I don’t keep much from my saling and sourcing, but a few little things do slip by. Take this pretty Cloisonne vase, she just seemed to have taken up permanent occupancy on my kitchen window sill. She holds one perfect hydrangea blossom, and I think she’ll stay awhile. Not much new comes in, without something leaving to the shop. I am a maximalist, but not a hoarder, though honestly, I do have the tendency lol😂 How about you, maximalist, minimalist, or hoarder? Is there a happy medium?

Bring cherished memories of time spent in grandmas kitchen with these two chrome beauties. Many a child has climbed up onto these classic step stools to help in the kitchen and then slipped the steps under the chair and tucked it back into its designated spot . The yellow Cosco shelf adds extra storage to any space, a great place for a collection of potted plants, is what I see, but maybe you see a coffee station or a spot for who knows what? Both pieces will bring a nostalgic touch to any home. for the win, again!

Pears 🍐
Lake County dried pears were shipped to the troops in WWII.

This photo gives you a sense of the of the Pears that Lake County dried.

During WW II dried Lake County pears played their part in the war effort as dried pears were shipped to the Western Front for soldiers and civilians.

By the mid-20th century, besides being the largest shipper of Bartlett pears, Lake County was also the second largest seller and the third largest canner for Bartlett Pears in the United States.

Fondue night when I was a kid was something special. For some strange reason it was the only night we got to eat in the tv room downstairs, and with the tv turned on. We’d all gather around a table, brought in special for the occasion, and dip our colored tiny forks in the hot oil. My favorite was the mushrooms, and I guess there was meat, I truly don’t remember anything other than the mushrooms.This strange custom seems to have stopped when my sister and I became teenagers, who knows why? My mom, who always tried to be hip, must have been on some new kick, bless her inquisitive nature.❤️ Who loves them a good fondue night?

Did I bring on this gloomy, fall like day by making white bean soup yesterday? It’s entirely possible. I washed my car last week and the county came and ground up the potholes, and then patched them, right outside my house, three days later. I have been known to have some decidedly magical moments in my life, but predicting the weather is not usually one of them. If you’d like to try this tasty soup yourself, I have included the recipe. I usually double the recipe, freezing some for later. I also always use about a pound of pre soaked dry beans instead of canned beans, and cut the fat by using half and half instead of cream, coconut milk would probably be yummy too. Hope you enjoy your weekend, don’t forget, the Blackberry Cobbler Festival will be Saturday on Cobb. Come on up, stop at the shop then drive up Cobb Mountain to the festival! It’ll be a fun day for sure, and the perfect temperature!

Scene from a country antique shop. We’ve been sourcing some new treasures and mixing it up here in the shop. People ask when do we get new stuff in, and I tell them daily! You just never know what will show up here from one day to the next. Also, unless you’re a very thorough shopper, I’d say it’s impossible to see it all in one visit! If it’s been a while, stop on in and see what’s new!
