Storm just rolled through and the hail inspector is already on the roof. 👀

If you heard hail hitting the house tonight, there is a good chance your roof felt it too. Most hail damage cannot be seen from the ground, which is why a professional inspection matters.

Also, if you experienced hail, make sure to gather photos and videos of the hail size while it is still on the ground. This can be extremely helpful documentation if damage ends up being found later.

Most homeowners have heard of starter shingles.

But not all starter is created equal.

On this FORTIFIED roof, we installed self adhered starter along the entire roof perimeter. This type of starter has a continuous adhesive backing that bonds directly to the roof deck for added wind resistance.

But it does not stop there.

For a true FORTIFIED installation, the drip edge must follow a specific high wind nailing pattern. It is also primed with asphalt primer so the self adhered starter can create a proper bond to the metal.

Without primer, the adhesive does not fully bond to the drip edge. If that bond fails, the perimeter becomes vulnerable.

High winds do not start in the middle of your roof. They start at the edges.

Every detail matters when building a roof designed to withstand Oklahoma storms.

Our team has had a busy week following the ice storms. This will make roof three of the week and it is the second fortified roof of the week. Decking has been renailed, zip tape for the extra protection along the seams of the OSB is almost completed. Time for the underlayment.
