Heading to the Taconic Antiques Fair is this pair of hollow cut silhouette portraits of the Deering sisters of Portland/Westbrook, Maine. Identified on the reverse: Harriet Deering (L) Born Oct. 30, 1792. Died June 14, 1872. Almira Deering Merrill (R) Born Nov. 9, 1801. Married Henry Merrill. Died Feb. 24, 1876. Harriet bears the stamp of William King [W. KING]. (William King's works are known circa 1804-1806) Frames appear to be original with small edge damage. Old Christie's sale labels on reverse. 6 1/2" X 5 1/4".
