❔How has your work developed over time?
“My current series, Windows Paint, started when I wanted to paint a mouse without a mouse — the animal, sketched in MS Paint without an actual computer mouse, just the touchpad.

I fell in love with the aesthetics of this old-school program — its mistakes and glitches, a lot like a child’s drawing. Since then, all my paintings start as a sketch in MS Paint, which I then translate onto canvas in a more conventional way — acrylic or oil. Over time I realized that when you zoom in, it draws straight in pixels. That’s how the pixel paintings were born — but it’s not pixel art, I’m more interested in a blurred line. The newest series came about after I discovered Windows Paint 3D.” ~ Jiri Mayer

We will walk the breathless streets of our towns.

We will walk like we know where we are going
and as if we have more time than we could ever fill
with the heaving stuff of our lives.

Yin and Yang are constantly changing, opposing and depending on each other.

That girl is me.
This girl also is me.
I live my life spinning around and around
various me.

I envy my friend when I hear she talks about her little birds.
I heard that while my friend’s family eats breakfast, her little bird brothers ride on her shoulders, fly around the dining room, and chirp.
Her family seem to enjoy such an elegant breakfast every morning.
I want to have a bird, too.
But to be honest, I am quite occupied with just raising my two sons.

For some reason, when a strong wind blows, my body freezes and my thoughts stop.

One person sees something and thinks it is beautiful, and another person sees it and thinks it is beautiful as well. That is the Japanese I love you.

I was born in a port town in Nagasaki.
When I was playing on the rooftop, I looked up and saw a sea bird circling above me.

Do you collect anything? I collect colors.

Whenever I come across a beautiful color combination, I take a photograph and add it to my personal collection. I find these combinations everywhere–while walking down the street, in a cafe, at a museum, or in the most unexpected.

Over time, these collected colors become a visual archive, and they often find their way back into my work, transformed into new combinations and new expressions.

This is Blossom Dream, a meditative seated ceramic animal sculpture creature in a transfixing color of iridescent pink glaze. Do you have an intense love of color, too? It might be the phenomenon of Chromatophilia: Coined in aesthetic and philosophical contexts to describe an overwhelming pull, reverence, or passionate appreciation for hues and tones.

Our newest fine artist, Joy Chung, not only is a lover of color, she is also especially interested in the honest and uncomplicated way animals express emotion.

What’s the connection between horses and art you ask? It’s all about coherence.🐴The heart of a horse is extraordinary. Its electromagnetic field is five times stronger and more expansive than that of the human heart. It creates a living sphere that extends fifteen to thirty feet in all directions 🔄 measurable by magnetometers and ECGs.

Scientific research shows that when a human steps within this invisible halo, the two hearts begin to entrain. 💞The horse’s coherent field becomes a tuning fork, guiding our nervous systems toward harmony. 🎶

🖼️ A study by King’s College London found that viewing original art in a gallery for just 20 minutes led to an average 22% decrease in cortisol.

Research also indicates that while viewing original gallery art can cause brief “cool flashes” or bursts of emotional arousal (slight heart rate increases), it ultimately promotes a wave-like rhythm of arousal followed by deep recovery and relaxation. 😌

Taking a “big step back” to view large works panoramically can signal the central nervous system to drop out of high-alert, narrow-focus states. 👁️
