Hinkston Handmade Artisan Dyed Yarn and Fiber From Rural Kentucky I taught myself to knit when I was 20. My first project was a scarf. I was successful. How cool would that be!

Then I decided I was going to make socks!! Never mind that I had never knit anything that wasn't a rectangle. I fell in love!! Not with socks them selves but the yarn. Wild crazy colors! I loved watching them pile on top of one another. I love watching stripes form. I would finish the first sock and be thrilled. The second sock was a different story. I was ready for something new. So I would start

a new one with some exciting new yarn. Not long after my one sock wonder days I discover spinning and from there dying. I enjoy spinning painted rovings. I watch the colors flow then blend and twist together in their rhythmic, sleepy way. It is the same when knitting a hand spun yarn from a painted roving. When I am not up to my elbows in dye I you can find me giving riding lessons on Rocky Mountain Horses, taking hikes through the hills of Kentucky, or just hanging out with my husband Charlie, my daughter Ruby, our 10 chickens, 1 dog Hank, and our numerous cats!

Well. It's been another great I got my start here 16 years ago. I was still part time then. Time has not slowed down any in those years. It was great to see long time customers and gain new ones as well. Did you notice my new displays!? They will be much easier to manage than gridwall. The only downfall is that they actually take up more space so I can't take as much product to shows. I guess I'm gonna need a bigger vehicle. Taking less yarn is not an option obviously!
came this afternoon to help me tear down. I planned to take him out for a steak dinner afterwards. Instead, he packed a picnic and a fishing pole. We stopped at a park in Georgetown on the way home. He's fishing, I'm knitting and for this moment all is right in our world. What a blessing this life is. Thank you to everyone who shopped, shared their projects or just a smile. Thank you to all my vendor friends who have helped me grow and helped me out all these years. These talented people have become so dear to me and I thank God for every single one of you. See you down the road somewhere soon (probably 😂)

Mother Nature's got other plans! I'm missing the 2026 South Carolina Knitting Guild Retreat and I'm beyond bummed. Six hours of snow and ice wasn't exactly my idea of fun. Can't wait to join y'all next year, Lord willing and the creek don' rise. Stay safe and grab a cozy craft.
