Every Summer, I look forward to visiting Colectivo in Tosa. They have the most beautiful Japanese anemone (Eriocapitella × hybrida).🤍 Surprisingly, I hit them at the end of their blooming season, so there was literally one bloom left just for me! Unfortunately, there was a pole I had to try and maneuver around, so I did the best I could to capture this absolutely gorgeous perennial. The little things! 🦋

I’m so glad I decided to challenge myself with this particular garden journal drawing. 🌼✍🏽 Ligularia or the ‘Tractor seat’ plant is one of the most detailed flowers I know! First I had to block in all the shapes, to be very careful on getting my proportions right. I stated with the bumblebee wings, which were the hardest to make look transparent. I thouroughly enjoyed my artistic process with this Ligularia drawing! Always nice to be able to reference your own photography too. 🦋

Good stormy morning to you beautiful people. ⛈️ I thought everyone could us a little yellow sunshine in a flower. 🌼 As I arrived at my dentist office yesterday, I noticed what I thought were Sunflowers. 🌻 When I got home and looked the flower up, turns out it is a, “Wyethia mollis,” otherwise known as a Woolly mule’s ears. It is a Perennial wildflower in the sunflower family after all, and native to the Western U.S. How this beauty ended up outside a Dentist office is a mystery? Perhaps, a little bird pooped it out. 💩 🦋

I’m so excited to finally wake up to our first two Zinnia blooms!!! 🌸🌼 Apparently, I got my seeds in the ground a bit late, but there are tons of buds. Last year my Zinnias bloomed through October, so I’m not super concerned. Bring on the Zinnia loving butterflies and bees! 🐝 My favorite pollinator photography always comes from Zinnias. 🦋

I’m not sure how I feel about my Easter Lily drawing. 🤍✍🏽 They are beautiful, but drawing white flowers has always been a challenge for me. The creative process was definitely a learning experience. I tried to layer colors for the shadow areas. I’m looking forward to drawing my next flower in my garden journal. It’s a very detailed flower! 🌼 🦋

I really got lost in my creative process on this Milkw**d drawing! 🌸✍🏽 I always like to see where my drawing takes me. We started our first Milkw**d plant in our garden from a tiny plant. 🌱 This season it grew to 3’ tall! 🌿 Also, we started some from seed, which spread and are doing exceptionally well. We wanted to do our part to help the Monarch population. We’ve already had a Monarch visit our Milkw**d! It spent about 15 minutes, dancing around my head, and sucking sweet nectar from the Milkw**d flowers. 🦋 **d

One of my favorites in our garden is our mighty
Trumpet Vine ‘Campsis - radicans’.) Our trumpet Vine runs all along our fence. Many people think the trumpet Vine is high-maitehance to keep it pruned back. Otherwise, they tend to take over.
They are such mignty vine climbers, that ours grew up an old stump in our neighbors yard! Both the pollinators and I, L🐝VE our Trumpet Vine. 🧡 🦋 ✍🏽
