😆 to be fair, the fourth bunch of Amaranthus was on clearance at the wholesaler and the first three are “cyclops” - which are a massive variety of hanging Amaranthus

A completely normal amount of thought went into choosing these candle colors.

Because apparently, “neutral” is a very broad category. đŸ«

A few of my favorite neutral taper candles in different lighting, because the undertones matter.

When the landscape is this good, you let it lead.

At Big Spring Farm in Lexington, Virginia, limelight hydrangeas line the entrance, trace the path to the barn, and frame a ceremony on the island. Naturally, they became the starting point for the entire floral design.

We carried that palette into the sailcloth tent with clouds of limelight hydrangeas, delicate green mist for added texture, and a clean mix of white, green, and sharp black accents.

Romantic, a little moody, and entirely at home in the Virginia countryside.

The best way to achieve a difficult color palette is to build the color story around the flowers, not expect the flowers to perfectly match one impossible shade.

For mauve, that means layering real flowers in different tones, tints and undertones — dusty mauves, muted pinks, lavender, blush, plum and soft terracotta — then letting the linens, dresses, stationery and other design elements carry the exact color you’re trying to achieve.

That’s how you get a cohesive mauve floral palette without resorting to dyed or silk flowers just to match a Pinterest image.

Real flowers have variation. And honestly? That’s what makes the finished design feel dimensional, intentional and actually real.

Save this for the next time your Pinterest board has you hunting for a flower that simply does not exist. đŸ«

The rain forced a backup plan for the ceremony—and created the fall wedding of everyone’s dreams.

Burgundy, terracotta, mauve and deep autumn tones brought all the moody fall energy, while lush florals and branches made the space feel ethereal. ✹

Add in dark wood floors, exposed beams and all those rich tones, and suddenly the rain plan became the best plan.

Fall wedding vibes, minus the pumpkins. đŸ–€

What’s your favorite fall wedding detail: the moody florals, the cozy color palette or the dramatic mantle installation?
