Imagine being “trapped” in a lake cabin in slow motion with no where to be or go with your husband, four other couples, a trained sommelier, and the best effin’ southern cooks you know for five days… that’s how we spent our ❤️ 🥰

This year, it was my turn to host our annual couples trip. I chose the theme . The couples were a team and had a coordinating color. We played games - How well Do You Know Your Spouse (our version of the Newlywed game). I welcomed guests with fresh flowers and a gift bag filled with water, slippers, midnight snacks, chapstick, floss picks, mints, and other things to enjoy their spouses. Each couple had coordinating stainless steel cups and cookies.

Each couple had a day to pull out all the stops for breakfast and dinner. It was a friendly competition of who could go all out.

We ate, drank, played games, watched TV series, laughed and slept until our hearts were content. It was the perfect snow weekend with like-minds and good food.

Now that the holidays are firmly behind us, here’s my recap.

I was about to post about my next venture then I realized I didn’t finish my recap. I use these posts to remember what I did the next year.

So “this” year, I switched my theme to a new cozy vibes. I enjoyed this theme most. It’s mature enough for my growing boys who felt like they had outgrown the vibrant color theme.

I used natural woods, snow, tartan print, skis, sledge, fur, wool, twine, branches, and anchor colors of 🔵🟢 which are both of my boys school colors. This tied in perfect.

This Christmas, I lived and loved in the moment. But here’s my recap

After 15 years of our “Merry and Bright” theme, since both boys are teens 🫣 I’m ready to embrace something new! This holiday season, we’re diving into the cozy and rustic vibes of blue and green—our family’s favorite colors! 🟢🔵

Both boys’ started new schools this fall. Both schools have the same colors. Their new school colors align perfectly with our new theme. Inspired by the charm of Ralph Lauren’s ski slope aesthetic, think rustic elegance, warm textures, and that cozy Christmas feel! ❄️🏔️

Our new mood board captures the essence of a snug cabin retreat, complete with rich patterns and festive touches.✨

What started off as just a logo for my undergrad sorority chapter, ended up becoming a full-scale, branding and marketing campaign to help my the chapter increase visibility.

This year for homecoming, I created a logo then I used the logo in different elements such as a banner, tablecloth, T-shirts, etc.

This logo not only highlights our underground chapter, but it’s visible and we can still have “fun” without our sorority letters on. As a result of this campaign, we collected over $1500 for our underground chapter. I just love when a campaign and marketing comes together. 🔺

Every now and again the stars align and I can align my passion and job/volunteer work. ✨💫 I serve on a number of boards, but my position as for has been the best by far. Program director is like being an activities director for a cruise ship or summer camp. We get to plan four chapter-wide activities each year. Since I’m naturally a and retired event planner this has been the 😚🤌🏽perfect mix.

Just like I used to do with my boys birthday parties and my best events, I work for months to plan create, paint, glue, glitter etc. For this event, I started with to create the logo and brand. Then, over the summer, I started painting the paddle balls, ordering napkins, table cloth, cutting the water bottle wrappers, ordering the popcorn bags and adding labels. I had to perfectly time stuffing the popcorn bags and placing the cupcake labels so they would be fresh for the event.

Im grateful that John and my boys don’t mind me hijacking the kitchen table for weeks to paint the paddles 1 by 1 on both sides then let dry 🤭

Is it a lot of work? Yes.
Could I just order this stuff online? 🤷🏽‍♀️ maybe
Do I have to do ALL of this? No.

Creating is my stress relief and I love seeing the finished products.🤩

I’ve been on a roll lately. Some how I thought it was a great idea to serve on boards. While I enjoy being in the room, I’m . So I’ve been trying to take time out to relax.

I changed Tripp’s old room into my “Lady Lounge” so I can sit in silence, meditate, read, and write in my prayer journal. I’ll share the room once I’m done.

Even though is the scariest movie I’ve ever seen (because the killer is working from the inside instead of it being an external person like ), I love this quote and it is so true. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

This spring, I had the opportunity to open the Mid-Atlantic Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development conference. I spoke about the importance of in public health. The conference was great and my presentation was well received. 😉

Years ago, I decided when traveling for work I would always wear navy blue and neutrals with a pop-up color as my wardrobe capsule. Traveling and using a wardrobe capsule has helped me not pack so many clothes and not have to worry about accessories and what I’m wearing each day. This strategy has allowed me to look polished and not think about what I need to wear so it makes it easier to pack and to decide what I’m wearing. This time when I traveled, I used all gold buttons as my signature pop. So when it was time to pack, I just went through the closet and grabbed everything with gold buttons and hot pink as my ✨that became my wardrobe for the week.

Here’s a look at my closet in the hotel. This is how I pack when I travel.

How do you pack for conferences?

Every now and again, I get to combine my real life with my former life and I had a chance to plan my company’s 15 year anniversary. I picked the company colors so I had a chance to get loose with the decor to make it all come together. It’s just one thing that really makes me smile and is my stress relief - it’s event planning and seeing it all come together.

Cheers to 18 years married 🥂

When I first heard this song, I cried like a baby. It was so true and reflective of our experience and time together.

Today marks 18 years since our big themed wedding. Over the past two decades, we enjoyed amazing highs and lows.

3 houses
2 kids
1 dog
Endless trips and stories to share. I can honestly say, that I would do it all over again. Happy anniversary John Blaze!

My son’s winter break activity included refreshing the pantry.

Contrary to my belief, when I first organized my pantry I thought I was done. I didn’t account for weekly grocery runs, half eaten chips, and male family members not decanting the groceries in “the appropriate clear labeled bins.” 🙃

So, my oldest was responsible for going through and checking expiration dates, staleness, and getting rid of the things “they determined they no longer eat after I ordered a pallet full.” 😐

I’m trying to teach my kids everything has a place and if you can’t find it, you don’t have it. Organizing starts at home.

My next is complete!

The basement decor all started with the inspiration piece of the album that John purchased a vinyl record. Once he purchased a record, I was staring at the colors and thought that this would be a good to pull colors and flush out his basement.

I absolutely fell in love with the poster from - so I got the biggest size he offered to hang over the bed. Here are all the prints and patterns and textures that I’m using to finish off our guest bedroom. 🔥🔥🔥
