MSR Design

MSR Design Architecture and Interiors MSR Design creates transformative and human-centric, award-winning architecture and interior design.

Since 1981, our firm has produced work of enduring value: buildings that are expressly right for their time and place and that culturally and physically age gracefully. We tailor our design solutions to each client, resulting in a diverse mix of sustainable, equitable, healthy, beautiful projects. We actively engage our clients to understand needs and uncover aspirations, while considering each project’s social, cultural, economic, and environmental goals.

MSR Design's Rhys MacPherson is celebrating a career milestone: 35 years with the firm!

MSR Design Partner Paul Mellblom says, “Rhys is relentlessly curious and an autodidact. His generosity is immense, and he is always willing to be a resource to anyone in our office. Rhys is a fine human being. MSR Design is a better place due to his personal devotion and advocacy for architecture that enhances the human spirit and health and conserves our natural resources. I'm grateful to work with him.”

Congratulations to our client Grand Forks Children's Museum on this milestone.

Wednesday carried a feeling we won’t soon forget...a sense that something long imagined was finally beginning. Our groundbreaking wasn’t just a milestone; it was a moment when hope, community, and possibility opened up all at once. We tried to capture the heart of that day in this blog: https://www.grandforkschildrensmuseum.com/post/groundbreaking-the-moments-we-will-remember

We’re excited to share that Matthew Kruntorad, Partner at MSR Design, will be speaking at the American Library Association 2026 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Chicago!

The session, “From Stalled to Built: Navigating Library Capital Projects with Optimism and Consensus,” will explore how communities can move library capital projects forward amid escalating costs, political hesitation, and years of deferred action. The conversation will focus on building optimism and consensus, strengthening political will, engaging stakeholders authentically, and designing sustainable, flexible, and inclusive library spaces that serve as vital civic infrastructure.
(Co-presenters: Tara Visacek, Ryan Wieber, Mark Bacon)
