Today marks one year since I closed Story & Teller’s storefront. Anniversaries have a way of sparking reflection, and what I keep coming back to is community - the way Minnesotans continue to show up for one another. Protesting in the bitter cold. Delivering groceries. Patrolling neighborhoods. Refusing to let others navigate harm alone. This kind of collective care is powerful.

Even if the headlines have stopped, what’s happening in our state hasn’t. ICE is still impacting our community - neighbors are still being detained, families still separated, people still living in fear. The need for ongoing, tangible support is still very real.

I want S&T’s final act to be rooted in service to the community that has given me so much. If any goodness can rise from an ending, let it be this: turning what remains into support for those who need it most.

With that as my inspiration, I’ll be raffling off my remaining inventory to raise funds for local organizations supporting individuals impacted by ICE. Whether you lived down the street from the shop or halfway across the country, it’s an easy yet meaningful way to turn care into action.

If you’re one of those people still finishing up your gift list, I’m here to help (and truthfully, I’m right there with you)! This is Story & Teller’s last holiday season, and it felt important to fill it with the same magic I’ve always believed in - pieces with soul, handmade by artisans around the world.

As I continue to wind things down, I’ve gathered some go-to gifts and thoughtful bundles to make it easy to share something beautiful and unexpected one last time with your special people. It’s a small way to infuse the holidays with intention, and now at 40% off as a heartfelt thank-you for being part of this wild ride.

So many beautiful memories coming to mind from our own curved sectional. They are the best gift as I continue to wind down the online shop. If you’re looking for any final treasures, upcoming holiday gifts, or candle/incense restocks, don’t miss out on 30% off site wide.

Life after S&T

I still have my moments of sadness. The wave will rush over me, unexpectedly. Forcefully. Walking into a similar shop. Seeing the announcement of another small business closing. Getting a burst of inspiration and no longer having my outlet. I miss the shop. But more so I miss you all. I hope you’re well, surrounding yourself with loved ones, and soaking in all the joy that you can.

I’m shockingly happier than I ever imagined to be in saying goodbye to S&T, now for good in closing the online shop. Years ago, I thought this outcome would destroy me. The afternoon that I handed over the keys to the shop, I went home and broke down. I full out bawled. Like on the kitchen floor, heave-sobbing. And when Jonas came home, I told him that I wanted that to be the last time I cried over it. I now wanted to celebrate all that it was and all that it helped me become.

It was the economic blackout, so we had a glass of champagne from a bottle a dear customer had given me then went to the MOA - hear me out - and used some free passes that my mom had to Nickelodeon Universe. It was ridiculous, carefree, and perfect. I needed it more than I knew. I needed the reminder that life may feel heavy, but it can and will feel light again.

I’ve felt an abundance of that lightness continue on an internal level (unfortunately, not with *waves hand to everything in the world*, but this is a personal update). To me, it’s a sign that the decision to let go of S&T as it was was the right one for my soul. I’ve felt so rejuvenated with the restored personal balance, having more time with Jonas, our families, friends, silly little cat, hobbies. There have been so many highlights that I quickly maxed out on 20 frames.

So even though I am sharing that I’m beginning to wind down S&T’s online shop, officially ending this journey for good, please do not feel sorry for me. Instead, go support a small business you love that is [very likely] struggling to keep their doors open. It would be the best honor you could give me and all that this little shop stood for.

From the very beginning, Story & Teller was built with the aim of uplifting a diverse group of creatives, especially women. To date, 82% of the Makers I’ve collaborated with have been woman-owned businesses. That number isn’t just a stat - it’s a reflection of what’s possible when we invest in each other.

Because here’s the truth: women don’t just deserve to *chase* their dreams. We deserve to live in them. Grow in them. Thrive in them. I’m not giving up on mine, and I hope you never give up on yours.

Every dollar spent is a step toward a more equitable future, where women-led businesses aren’t the exception - they’re the norm.

To celebrate this International Women’s Day, please enjoy free shipping on your order today with code WOMENSDAY at checkout. Let’s keep building a world where women rise - together.

Lots of tears today as I cleaned the storefront and handed over the keys.

I’m doing my best to process the heartbreak I feel right now, and I struggle to put it into words. How can you possibly explain what it feels like to dismantle something you poured every ounce of your soul into? It sometimes hits me so hard that my hands shake.

I first spoke this dream out loud in 2015.
A decade of dreaming.
2 years of building.
5 days to tear it all down.

I saved the Makers pillar for last. One by one, I peeled their photos off the concrete - the faces of the artists, the creatives, the dreamers who filled this space with meaning. They were my seed of inspiration, which made it feel like the perfect ending.

Then, I popped in my headphones and played 3 of my most cherished songs as I read cards filled with words of kindness from so many of you. I let myself break down. To let the tears flood out of me. To just fu***ng sob.

When the final song ended, I picked myself back up and I moved on with my head held high.

Thank you all for giving me the strength to say goodbye to this chapter. You reminded me that Story & Teller was never a store. It was creating meaningful connections, savoring quality moments, appreciating the endless beauty in the world. I could never see this journey as a failure, knowing how many of you experienced just that during your visits.

An absolute gift that I will carry with me forever.
