Today marks one year since I closed Story & Teller’s storefront. Anniversaries have a way of sparking reflection, and what I keep coming back to is community - the way Minnesotans continue to show up for one another. Protesting in the bitter cold. Delivering groceries. Patrolling neighborhoods. Refusing to let others navigate harm alone. This kind of collective care is powerful.
Even if the headlines have stopped, what’s happening in our state hasn’t. ICE is still impacting our community - neighbors are still being detained, families still separated, people still living in fear. The need for ongoing, tangible support is still very real.
I want S&T’s final act to be rooted in service to the community that has given me so much. If any goodness can rise from an ending, let it be this: turning what remains into support for those who need it most.
With that as my inspiration, I’ll be raffling off my remaining inventory to raise funds for local organizations supporting individuals impacted by ICE. Whether you lived down the street from the shop or halfway across the country, it’s an easy yet meaningful way to turn care into action.
