In architecture and design, clear communication doesn’t happen by accident. It starts with alignment early on and continues through every phase of the project.

A few things we’ve found make a real difference:

We had fun redesigning this waiting area after the damage and creating a new look for the clinic and spaces for the patients!

Renovation work at Personal Care Dentistry is wrapping up this month and our new waiting room will be open the first week of June! New furniture for the waiting room arrives at the end of May. Offices for staff are also nearing completion and they will be moving into their new spaces in the next couple of weeks. Also, all of our patient treatment rooms have received new carpet and paint to match the new waiting room and we have added several new treatment rooms.

Dr. Kyle, Dr. Walter, Dr. Andrew and our entire care team want to thank all of our patients for their patience over the last 11 months as we have worked to recover from the flood last summer.

Take a sneak peak!

Bob Shaffer was on site at personal care dentistry, walking through what will soon become the new reception and waiting area.

At this stage, it’s less about finishes and more about flow.

▶️ How patients arrive.
▶️ Where they pause.
▶️ How the space can feel calm, welcoming, and easy to navigate from the start.

It’s spaces like this where the experience begins before the appointment ever does.

At Baker Foundation Studio, one of the biggest ways we create clarity is by aligning design with budget early, not at the end.

Every decision, from layout to materials to construction methods, has an impact on cost. When those decisions are made with real data and experience, it helps avoid the back-and-forth that can slow things down.

It’s not about limiting ideas. It’s about making sure the right ideas can actually move forward. That’s how projects stay on track and teams stay aligned.

For this project in Virginia, Minnesota, the goal was to create a space that reflected the surrounding North Woods while also supporting how the clinic operates day to day.

Natural materials, warm tones, and exposed trusses helped establish a sense of comfort and permanence, something that feels both familiar and grounded in its environment.
