This studio library is not decoration. Concept driven design means every project starts with a reference, and references have to come from somewhere. Monographs and back issues, auction catalogs and books nobody else would keep. Most of it sits unopened for years. Then one project needs exactly that page.

A look at a recent shoot. A project we have been living with for a while now, and one we are glad to finally start sharing. More soon.

Concept driven design begins with a question, not a palette. At Bohns Point the question was what it means to inherit a place. Not only a house, but a landscape, a history, a set of rituals shaped over generations.

The answer came dressed as Lost J.Crew. Traditions that ground rather than restrict. Woven rush and worn wood, a bookcase built into stone, windows that hand the lake back to the room. Turning down the complexity so the focus lands on people, nature, and nostalgia.

A boat-friendly art collection. Every piece aboard Freya carries something from Victoria and Torben’s past, passed forward. Not a decorative scheme so much as an inheritance in progress, assembled slowly, hung in a space that moves.

Swipe through five works and the histories they hold.

Victoria talks Freya.

What was worth preserving, what had to go, and what a boat leaves behind. The original 1980s woodwork stayed, kept for a future that has not yet decided it wants it. The carpet did not. In its place, parquet laid by hand. A few questions answered on deck, about restraint, about restoration, and about the smells a child will carry for the rest of their life.

Reflections on the water.

Victoria on what temporary living does to a person, how a life measured in weeks rather than years sharpens the attention, and why the fleeting version of home might be the one that stays with you.

Something is happening on the river. Freya: a 1980s boat, on film. This summer.

Bathrooms are where a single material can do the most work. A hand-glazed square, a field of zellige that catches light differently every hour.

Contrast keeps the room honest. Mix eras, mix moods — the gilded with the spare, the modern with the antique. The only mistake is when everything agrees.
