This project was dubbed “Rick Owens in the Woods” by a friend, which is funny and accurate.

How do you hold your own against something with such a strong perspective as log construction? You march decisively in the other direction. We were starting a new chapter for this property, and we wanted it cleanly documented — what was old and what was new. There should be no doubts.

When each era holds its own line, the room gets clearer. Nothing blends and nothing softens, but the perception shifts. The timber starts to carry a modernist edge, and the contemporary furniture feels inevitable — not as an insertion, but as the natural counterpart.
