When you’re too cheap to buy real cabinet k**b backplates spray painted washers from will do! 🔨

This magical dresser holds most of my craft supplies from pompoms and cardstock to beads and ribbons and so much more! I never liked the bland wooden button k**bs so when I found these white ceramic k**bs at a thrift store I snatched them up.

HOWEVER, in removing the existing k**bs I quickly discovered they had been painted to the dresser. I used a razor blade to score the paint then whacked them off as gently as I could with a mallet, but it lead to some damage. Eventually I’d love to paint this dresser, but I knew that wasn’t happening anytime soon. So, instead of properly fixing the damage I figured I’d just cover it for the meantime by adding a backplate!

HOWEVER, the only backplates I liked were pretty pricey and I wasn’t willing to invest that much for a short term fix. SO, I picked up some washers from the hardware store, gave them a quick sanding and spray painted them with something I had on hand. It isn’t perfect, but it’s an improvement!

I always try to forewarn my design clients that their project will NOT go as planned. That doesn’t mean that it won’t be a success though! There are just so many unknowns and as we uncover them, we make decisions and come up with creative solutions that sometimes in the end are more interesting than the original plan anyways. Trust the process and give me a call if you need a guide. 😘

While was snapping some branding photos of my clients and me at we came across this light that seemed like the perfect fit for their new home library and we convinced them to buy it!

Today I got this photo update of it installed. 🥰 Repetition is your friend with design. Think color, shape and texture. This light checks all three…
1) the color of the sticks matches the wood tones in the space (TBD on if the chrome will work but that can easily be spray painted)
2) the pattern of the sticks mimics books lined up on a shelf
3) the natural sticks have a similar energy/texture to a rattan bench I helped them source fromthe Facebook marketplace.

Most importantly though, it functions well! It can accommodate a higher lumen output than their previous fixture, casts a warm even light without creating shadows and is still fairly snug to the ceiling as these clients are tall and the ceilings aren’t very high.

When getting caught up in an interior design project I find most homeowners ask “How it is going to look!?!” My priority is to gather information from them so that I can answer the more important question “How will it function?” In spaces, as with people, looks aren’t everything.

BTW I will share more pictures of this cozy coral library soon. did an amazing job bringing our vision to life! We’re just wrapping up with a rug, lamps and artwork.

Turning 5 laundry bins of hanger chaos into 2 neatly organized racks makes me so happy 🥰

At the end of a season with at it’s always a little sad. But that feeling doesn’t last long as we start gearing up for next season!

Thanks to these hanger organizers and a nice costume rack I scored from my neighbor’s free pile I am a happy costume designer!

I’m usually just schlepping around floor, tile, cabinet, countertop, etc. samples, but during ✨special✨ times of year I also schlep dance costumes.

And tell everyone you know. This show is amazing. It is collaborative. It is creative. It is hopeful. It is funny. I am super proud to be a part of it. I’m honored to be able to perform again. It’s definitely not as easy as it was when I was younger though so come watch me while you can 😂

AND, the amazing community dance show abundance is coming up next month. Plus Dance In Concert at the university is this weekend! So much wonderful dance to take in. We are so fortunate.

What a huge difference 4 inches can make! ↗️

As an interior designer, I am all about small changes with big impact. On this budget kitchen remodel, though they don’t particularly like their cabinets, we can work with them and make them more likable using some sneaky design tricks 🤓

We started by moving them up 4 inches and removing the decorative trim piece over the sink. Stay tuned for the other changes which will totally transform the space!

My pup Taita joined me for a site measure at on unoccupied residence recently 🥰 Despite his lack of opposable thumbs he was a delight to have around and boy was he tired when we got home. For a “working dog” I thought it would take more than a 4 hours shift to tire him out 🤷🏻‍♀️
