Just want to assure everyone that the main original Axmen on the highway is not the Axmen that is on fire. Axmen Recycle is the location of the fire. We are praying for limited damage and for the safety of all those working diligently to put it out.

The massive Mall Model 7 was designed in the late 1940's for felling heavy timber. Measuring nearly 10 feet long and equipped with a piston-ported engine, this groovy tree-cutter was intended to be used by two people at once to manage its size and power.

You wouldn't know it at a glance, but this is one of the most unique displays in the museum!

This Birmingham Small Arms shotgun was brought to Axmen by a friend of the store. Unfortunately, all they knew about its history is that it was an antique that belonged to their father. The finish and placement of the few markings it has indicate that this gun may have been manufactured for military use.

What makes it so unique is the bayonet fixed to the barrel: a Japanese Type-30, typically meant for use with the Arisaka Type-30. Arisaka Type-30s were the standard infantry issue rifle for the Imperial Japanese Army from 1897 to 1905. It still saw widespread use throughout World War I and II.

So how did a Japanese bayonet wind up fixed onto a British shotgun, and how did the pair make their way to the United States? We may never learn the answer, but we can appreciate the history it carries with it.
