When I made this I wanted a companion piece to the mask because there is a Saint for every person and this represented the knight on the horse that specifically threw that beautiful mask to a hopeful person in the crowd. The checkerboard is the ever changing hierarchy in life but one thing never changes... When you're on that horse, you stand for justice and peace and love. This is a Catholic symbol. You ride for God.
