This is the kind of transformation we've always loved doing.
This kitchen in Orland Park went from traditional oak cabinetry and older finishes to an entirely different look with Dune Grass cabinets, HanStone Montauk quartz countertops and a new backsplash.
And we didn't replace something just because it was existing.
The hardwood floor stayed—and it looks great with the new finishes.
Pehrfection Home Improvement eventually grew into The Floor 4 U, but the approach hasn't changed: look at the whole project, figure out what actually needs to be changed, and pay attention to the details that bring the finished room together.

What should you do if your basement floods?

First, don’t panic.

With the heavy rains we’ve experienced recently, many homeowners are dealing with water where it shouldn’t be. Acting quickly can help minimize damage and improve the chances of saving your flooring.

Here are a few important steps:

✅ Stop the source of the water if it’s safe to do so.

✅ Remove standing water as quickly as possible.

✅ Begin drying the area immediately with fans and dehumidifiers.

✅ Move furniture and belongings out of the affected area if possible.

✅ Avoid assuming the floor is fine just because it “looks dry.” Moisture can remain trapped underneath flooring and inside the subfloor, leading to mold, odors, or future flooring failure.

At The Floor 4 U, we use moisture meters to evaluate flooring and subfloors because hidden moisture is often the biggest concern after a flood.

Every situation is different. Some floors can be saved, while others may need to be replaced depending on the type of flooring and how long the water remained.

Nobody has ever walked into a finished room and said, "Wow... look at all those staples they removed."
And honestly, that's exactly how it should be.
After doing this for so many years, I've learned that some of the most important parts of a flooring job are the ones nobody ever sees.
Removing every staple from an old carpet pad isn't the glamorous part of the job. It's slow, it's hard on your knees, and it's one of those tasks that's easy to rush if you don't care about the end result.
But we've never believed in shortcuts.
This is Drew in the picture. He's been with us for about three years now, and one thing I always try to pass along is that the details matter. Taking the extra time to do the work nobody will ever notice is what separates a good installation from one that lasts.
The finished floor gets all the attention, but it's the preparation underneath that gives it the best chance to look great for years.
That's the kind of craftsmanship I was taught, and it's the kind of craftsmanship I hope every person who works with us carries forward.
What are some of the "behind-the-scenes" parts of your job that most people never realize make all the difference?

A backsplash is only as good as the installation behind it.
Straight layouts, consistent grout joints, clean cuts around outlets, and proper surface preparation determine whether a tile installation still looks great years from now.
This kitchen project highlights how preparation and craftsmanship create professional results.

Why do some kitchen remodels feel professionally designed while others feel like a collection of separate upgrades?
The difference is usually planning.
This kitchen project in Mokena demonstrates what happens when cabinets, countertops, backsplash, flooring, fixtures, and finishes are selected to work together as one complete system.
The cabinets were supplied by The Floor 4U, while the homeowner completed the cabinet installation. New countertops, a modern backsplash, updated flooring, and coordinated fixtures transformed the space into a brighter, more functional kitchen.
Many remodeling challenges can be avoided before installation ever begins through proper planning and product selection.

What causes most shower failures?
Usually not the tile.
Waterproofing, substrate preparation, and installation details often determine whether a shower performs properly for years or develops costly issues.
This custom shower completed by The Floor 4U in Shorewood demonstrates the importance of building the project correctly before focusing on the finished appearance.
