When I was a child I begged Mom to let me get a lemon or two at the grocery. Once home, I carefully sliced through the plump rind, ending up with a dozen half moons. Then, while Gillian’s Island played on TV, I ate each lemon moon slowly, savoring the tart and sour.

This was LONG before sour patch candy or gum. And long before we knew that fruit acid can destroy tooth enamel.

I still get lemons for my water and iced tea. Once in awhile I’ll tempt the tastebuds like I used to.

For today I’ll leave my lemons here too.

I have been painting while I’ve been absent from social media. Here are the vibrant birds and flowers I mentioned last time I posted. Some of the flowers are fantasy, others patterned after zinnias or daisies. Late afternoon lighting creates a few shadows.
