These handspun Acadian Brown Cotton tassel earrings are one of my favorite ways to celebrate Louisiana fiber.

Each pair begins with naturally brown cotton grown in Louisiana using regenerative farming methods. Then, I spin the cotton into yarn by hand before turning it into lightweight tassel earrings. The warm brown color comes straight from the cotton itself—no dye needed.

Finished with nickel-free brass findings and a fun bohemian style, they're a wearable piece of Louisiana's textile history. 🌿

Acadian Brown Cotton is a rare heritage fiber that has been preserved through the efforts of farmers, seed savers, and artisans. I'm honored to play a small part in sharing its story.

Tour de Fleece is just around the corner, and if you're looking for something a little different to spin this summer, cotton might be the perfect challenge.

These naturally dyed cotton sliver bundles begin as USA-grown organic cotton and are dyed by hand in my studio using natural dyes like indigo, cochineal, weld, acorns, black walnuts, marigold, cosmos, and coreopsis. Every color comes from plants, insects, or other natural materials, creating shades that can't be replicated with commercial dyes.

Cotton spinning is so worthwhile. It's lightweight, cool to work with during hot weather, and a wonderful way to expand your spinning skills. If you've never spun cotton before, Tour de Fleece is a great excuse to give it a try. If you're already comfortable with cotton, check out all the colors! Cotton sliver is also beautiful blended with wool, angora, silk, or other fibers.

**Raw Gulf Coast Native Wool Fleece – Louisiana Grown**

A special opportunity to work with one of America's rare heritage sheep breeds. These raw Gulf Coast Native fleeces were grown in Louisiana and feature beautiful natural brown-to-black coloring that reflects the breed's rich genetic diversity.

These fleeces are slightly felted, making them less suitable for handspinning but an excellent choice for creating wet-felted "fleece" rugs and other rustic felted projects.

Gulf Coast Native sheep developed in the humid southeastern United States and are known for their hardiness and historical importance. Fiber from this breed can be difficult to find, especially from southern farms, making these fleeces a unique addition to any fiber artist's collection.

I have two slightly felted black Gulf Coast Native fleeces for sale. This is a rare breed! Grown in Louisiana and purchased from the amazing . Recently I spent some time at my loom turning natural fibers into functional textile art. These three zipper pouches are all one-of-a-kind pieces, woven on either my floor loom or table loom, and finished with cotton linings and zippers.

Each bag is unique. One was woven with handspun Acadian Brown Cotton and my angora, another with rustic handspun Cotswold wool I bought on impulse, and the third features a classic herringbone pattern woven with wool and mohair. Every fabric has its own texture, character, and history.

I love creating pieces that celebrate the beauty of natural fibers and traditional textile skills while still being useful for everyday life. They're just the right size for small knitting projects, spinning tools, notions, or little special collections.

Recently I spent some time in my studio turning 100% cotton into wearable art. Each of these oversized scrunchies is entirely hand-dyed by me. I use ancient, raw materials like indigo for blues, cochineal for pinks, weld for yellows, and locally gathered acorns and cosmos flowers for gray and orange. Sometimes I double dip to make secondary colors like purple and green. Each three-piece set is a true, one-of-a-kind textile art piece made with slow, deliberate craftsmanship and all natural materials.
