Matthew 28:5–6: The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
So tomorrow we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We celebrate that the stone was rolled away, not so Jesus could get out, but so we could see in.
The tomb is empty. Death has been defeated. Sin has been conquered. Hope is alive. And everything changed in that moment.
Here’s something a little bit cool; Some Biblical scholars believe Jesus was crucified in AD 33. Because the date of Easter changes each year based on the lunar calendar, we don’t celebrate it on the exact same calendar day annually.
But if that timeline is correct, then April 5th would be the actual day Jesus rose from the grave.
Which means tomorrow would mark the 1,993rd anniversary; the exact anniversary, of the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Tomorrow isn’t just a celebration, but a remembrance of a real moment in history when everything changed forever.
Nearly two thousand year, and the truth still stands. The tomb is still empty. Jesus is still alive. And He is still changing lives today.
Easter isn’t just something we celebrate, it’s something we live. Because Jesus didn’t just rise from the grave, He offers new life to us.
He is risen. And because He lives, we can truly live too.
