Our Urban Sketching Group had a lovely time this past Sunday sketching in Monrovia's White Oak Alley. We had some newcomers this time and welcomed all of our familiar faces.

Our Urban Sketching Group is now a part of something we're incredibly honored by. This group has always been about building a community of friends supporting each other. Artist’s tend to recluse and this group pushes us out of our comfort zones, forces us to be in the moment and builds a connection with friends and fellow artists.

Our Urban Sketching Group is open to all (ages 16 and under require accompaniment)
All mediums are welcome, within reason of course (no spray paints or aerosols).
While the group is not instructional, we're all willing and able to share our knowledge or skillset with each other. If nothing else, come sit with us and enjoy a peaceful Sunday evening.

In for repair this week is this stunning Visconti Fountain Pen.

This pen came in with the complaint of "It writes terribly, can you fix it?"

Upon inspection, Josh found a horribly misaligned nib, clogged feed and a converter that was solid with dried ink.

First order of business, the soak. Josh left this pen soaking in his cleaning solution for 24 hours, then gave it another soak for an additional 24 hours.

After the soak, he went to work manually cleaning the individual feed fins and adjusting the nib. This is a 100% gold nib, no platting here. This nib took adjustment very well and is now writing wonderfully.

For those wondering where the heck Liz has been...

This month Liz took a much needed sabbatical to Northern Washington state. While there she decided she's fulfill a bucket list item "Take a boat to a different country".

Liz set out on this journey with ZERO schedule or agenda. She was just simply going to explore

She got lost in Chinatown, almost bought a house boat, stumbled into an alley filled with shops specializing in mystical arts, perfumery, and literature.

An absolutely gorgeous trip! We are all very envious of Liz's journey to Canada but are very excited for her to come back home and share her new stories with all of us.

In case you missed the announcement, we opened up a third Watercolor Fundamentals class on October 18th from 12:30p to 2:30p. There are a few seats remaining in both of these classes. DM to RSVP for either class or both if you're obsessed with watercolor like us!

For those wandering about our advanced class. Please do not be trepidatious when you see "advanced", this class is simply a skills class that will help you further develop your techniques and abilities within in the world of watercoloring.

This week our Urban Sketching group met inside the shop. You have to get creative when it's 101 outside. We all chose an area in the shop and sketched, what a great evening of conversation, and creativity.

Our totally free Urban Sketching Club meets the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month. It's open to all. (16 and under require accompaniment). No RSVP, simply show up with your sketching supplies.

Can you believe it, we got a proper open/closed sign! AND a street sign!
Kinda crazy what happens when you put your mind to things and don't get distracted.

The community has spoken, swipe to read some of the reviews our totally free Urban Sketching Club has received recently.

Our Urban Sketching Club meets this Sunday at 5pm. Simply bring your sketchbook, a great attitude and get ready to see Monrovia like never before as we continue to explore our rich history, architecture, and landscape.

The club is FREE and open to all (ages 16 and under require accompaniment but are more than welcome).
