I recently made some changes to the bathroom in my 1939 house. The toilet had been in a 48"x25"x34" stall. The size of the stall couldn't be changed so we had to decide what to do with that area. We considered a few options and finally decided upon shelves. There are 4 shelves of increasing length, 6.5" to 21.5". Then I had to decide what to do with them since they were open to view. The bathroom is all white and during the remodel we added double trim to the walls. The trim was painted a light grey. So, I painted the shelves white and accented the front edges light grey. The grey accent depth increased with the lenght of the shelf, starting with 1" and ending with 4" accents. I bought wire containers in three shapes from the Dollar store, rectangle, square, and round. I used Rustoleum to paint them grey. When I put items in the containers, they fell out between the wires. I found various scraps of fabric in grey or grey and white and sewed bottoms for each of the containers. Then added some grey/white ribbon around the containers for a bit of pop. I learned a few things while doing this. I have TOO much bathroom stuff to fit in wire containers. That made me look harder at what I have and what I actually need.
