We among many other great designers and architects have donated seating to the TAKE A SEAT Benefit. Auction proceeds support the MAK Center for Art and Architecture’s exhibitions, residency programs, and year-round public events that advance experimental intersections of art and architecture.

For Collectible NYC this year we co-chaired the Vignette section and worked with amazing designers, interior designers, and architects to create a space that was meant to be a snapshot of their world, much like a store window.

I created my own vignette that was emblematic of collectible design to me at this current time with a little new and old. With a paired back appearance I really wanted the space to be focused on the handful of select beautiful items in the space. I brought in a couple of iconic vintage pieces - The Philippe Starck Aluminum Costes chair made in 1992 and the Antonio Citterio Kalos Chair made in 1997 covered in sumptuous Schumacher Moire Silk fabric. I paired this pieces with contemporary artists like Samantha Mccurdy (where we are exploring light sculpture, Kiki Gotti’s beautiful glass vessels, Ian Spencer’s English Oak table with a light burn finish, Vaughn Davis Jr’s sculptural canvas piece, and Armadillo’s plush sculptural rug. All of this was put together against a moody backdrop using Farrow and Ball’s London Clay color.

We used 3 fabrics to achieve a multi-textured vibe a boucle around the base and backrests and a combination of the boucle, texture and print on the seat cushions.

It was the perfect blend of something fresh while referencing vintage design themes

Midcentury bones, no cosplay. No “curated” clutter. No algorithmic furniture.
Just light, space, and knowing when to leave it alone. We layered in pieces that felt innate to the space — nothing nostalgic, nothing trying too hard to be “of the era.”
