Last winter I made my first piece of furniture. My mother-in-law needed a bench for her entryway with storage and this is what I came up with.

This was another special project for our home. Our mudroom lacked a closet and we also needed a more secure place for our dirty laundry to keep the dogs from digging into it. I took a cabinet found on marketplace and customized the upper half by removing the shelves and put in a clothing rack to create a space for our jackets. I then ripped out all the drawers and saved the face boards to put onto one large custom drawer for the bottom to use as our laundry hamper. On the outside it still looks like a regular cabinet but now serves two different purposes in one piece of furniture. Eventually the outside will get redone as well.

I did a photo imprint on this jewelry box for a Christmas gift last year. It took a few tries to get it right so the hummingbird would appear clear, but was happy with the end result and so was the recipient. The photo is one of my favorites. It came from a mission trip when my group worked at Ms. Row's home, who had these hummingbirds everywhere!
