This was such a fun lesson by through . Oil - Winsor Newton Cadmium Red Deep Hue and Winsor Newton Viridian. My next step will be to set up my still life photo (maybe not using a round plate 😂) using a complimentary colors.

More work done on this today. It’s a learning process and I keep reminding myself that I won’t be as good as someone who has been doing this for a couple of decades. Hope to finish over the next couple of days. This is my practice run so I did it on paper. May do a couple more on paper before trying it on canvas. is a phenomenal teacher. Maybe one day my plate will be more round 😂.

A little bit of string today. A color study using Winsor Newton’s Cadmium Red dark and Viridian in oil and a thumbnail sketch that will be eventually painted using the color study. This is from an online course but I hope to do my own still life study with items of my own choosing.

The original is the second photo (black and white photo from an original free photo by Pascal Ballan on unsplash.com) and the first photo is my drawing. Working on proportions and shading. I think we are finally settled enough in a routine here in Arizona where I can start focusing on my art again.

Not nearly as good as O’Keeffe’s “Datura and Pedernal” (1940), but still a fun attempt. (Oil on paper.)

A foray into oil paints. I think I’m starting to get used to it after painting mostly with water colors and acrylics since I started painting about five years ago. I’m enjoying the ability to blend and also realizing that sometimes the early stages are ugly but as you work with it, the blending unbelievable.

Started this last weekend at a class I took. I was a bit discouraged because the instructor was not helpful on the way I needed her to be. Worked on it here and there this week. It’s my first landscape painting using one of my photos as inspiration. The photo was from our trip to New Mexico a couple of months ago.

I decided to play. I saw this photo from my Pinterest art inspiration board and wanted to see what I could do with it. I was drawn to it because of the essence of the woman in the photo and the colors. I think I captured what I was drawn to it pretty well.
